The Maya the Honey Bee cartoon, based on the short stories, "The Adventures of Maya the Honey Bee" and "The Sky People", by the German writer Waldemar Bousels, was made in Japanese and German co-production by Apollo Film and from the legendary Nippon Animaton. In Japan it was broadcast in 1975, while it arrived in Italy in 1979, broadcast by Rai1, here the nice drawings by Marty Murphy and the famous song sung by Katia Svizzero (Vola, vola l'Maya the Honey Bee...) conquered from immediately the public of the very young. This animated series was much loved by children and contains highly educational and pedagogical content. Maia is a small and very lively bee, the protagonist of amusing adventures that follow a teaching, certainly clear, but not pedantic, namely: children, be good, despite the pranks typical of your age! Try to follow the advice of the older ones and show solidarity with the less fortunate, respecting nature and the surrounding environment! All the children of those years will remember the adventures of the nice bee with pleasure (so it is for me, that I never missed an episode of Maya the Honey Bee;-))! Immediately after birth, Maya the Honey Bee, together with a group of small bees, is entrusted to the care of Cassandra, a sweet teacher bee, who has the task of looking after the newcomers and teaching them what they need to know about the rules and normal hive activities. But Maya the Honey Bee is so curious to explore the world, to make new acquaintances, to receive comprehensive answers to her countless questions, that she will soon leave the hive. Our little protagonist will face her journey together with the inseparable Willi, a somewhat phlegmatic and lazy but nice little guy; especially when we see him engaged in a vain attempt to curb the lively impulsiveness of her adventure companion. The two friends will visit many new places (we will even see them venturing into the dangerous world of humans!!!), they will meet insects and animals they have never known before, some of which are good, some are not. dangers and difficulties will be many, as well as the times they will offer their help to the less fortunate. Maya the Honey Bee (not without the useful advice of the wise grasshopper Flip) will be able to get along well, leaving a trail of good feelings behind her. Thanks to these experiences, she will learn many things and will return to her hive as a sensitive and responsible adult. In this regard, it is curious to know that in the story of Waldemas, the queen bee, having identified Maia's inclinations, throws a party, where she gives her an explorer patent. While in the cartoon the Maya the Honey Bee and Willi, still too young to entrust them with a specific task within the hive, will leave it to go around the world. Only after numerous vicissitudes (which I invite you not to lose;-)), the two will be readmitted to the hive, where they will be entrusted with a specific job, in the interest of the common good. Among the various episodes to remember we naturally mention the first episode "The birth of Maia" where the origin of the character is narrated, "Il ragno Tecla" where they will meet a nice spider, "Willi loses his memory" where we will learn more about the characteristics of the inseparable friend of the bee Maia, "Maia substitute ant" where Maia will know the fascinating world of ants, "The winter of Maia and Willi" and "Spring has arrived" where the importance of changing season for insects...(Click on
