Jake Sully was recruited to go to the distant planet of Pandora, where humans colonized it at the expense of its inhabitants, in order to extract a rare material so full of energy that it could solve the Earth's energy crisis. Jake is a disabled ex-Marine, forced to live in a wheelchair but that hasn't stopped him from being brave and willing to sacrifice himself for a common cause. Human beings cannot breathe the air of the planet, therefore the "Avatar" Program has been created, able to connect the consciousness of human beings to a remotely controlled organic body. This is called Avatar and was made in the laboratory by combining human DNA, genetically modified with that of the natives of Pandora, called the Na'vi. Jake is delighted with this new experience and with his new body, as he can walk and explore, the extraordinary alien world that surrounds him. Jake is tasked with mingling with the Na'vi as they represent the biggest obstacle that prevents men from extracting the precious mineral.
Among the various versions of the DVD to be released, the 3 disc Extended Collector's Edition should be mentioned, containing 8 hours of unpublished videos, rich in content, interviews and insights.
