Cartoomics 14 Comics, Cartoons, Collectibles and Videogames Show 23-25 March 2007 - Fieramilanocity Pavilion 10 (Entrance Porta Eginardo) Hours: from 10.00 to 20.00 Admission: 5 euros (valid also for the other halls in Contemporary)

Cartoomics, the historic Comics, Cartoons, Collectibles and Videogames Exhibition returns with its fourteenth edition to occupy the spaces of Fieramilanocity with three days full of unmissable events, exhibitions, previews, conferences, screenings, guests of honor, game tournaments and lots and lots of fun. All under the banner of comics and cartoons! In fact, it will be a particularly careful edition to involve the major realities of the sector, starting with the Franco Fossati Foundation to which Cartoomics has entrusted the task of organizing and coordinating the appointments of its cultural program.

Now set to the attention of the public as the most important and awaited appointment of the comics calendar, not only in Milan, Cartoomics reaches its fourteenth edition by proposing an event that will bring to Milan the operators of the sector, of specialized publishing, of animation and the new frontiers of the game. Young authors, schools of comics and academies will find themselves `` cheek to cheek '' with important publishing realities and the great masters of all time to create a huge `` village '' dedicated to the magnificent world of talking clouds and cartoons, in whose main square ideas will be born of discussion and, who knows, new ideas and precious collaborations. No longer a single theme, as was the case for past editions, but a rich range of proposals that will review the entire offer of the varied world of comics. An ambitious aim which is guaranteed by the direct involvement of the publishing companies present with their stands and by that of the most important training academies. All without losing sight of the tradition of the historic Milanese salon: many themed and monographic exhibitions, tributes, conferences, meetings with the public, round tables, projections, previews and many meetings with important authors ready to draw for their audience. The entire set-up of the building will also be expanded and renovatedCollector's Corner, the now mythical `` market '' made up of hundreds of collectors and merchants from all over Italy where it will be possible to find the missing piece of one's collection, the comic book or comic newspaper unobtainable , the rare cinematographic poster, entire collections of surprises is all that makes a collection: from the tollini that cover the caps of the sparkling wine to the telephone cards, from the classic Smurfs to the colorful collectible cards for role-playing games.

Large space will also be reserved for Cosplayers, kids who love to parade wearing the costume of their favorite hero, often made by themselves with a meticulous cut & sew: fashion shows, prizes and even an entire section of the salon specially designed for them. It will in fact be presented to the public Cosplay City, a small village where cosplayers will be able to find everything, absolutely everything, what it takes to make up the costume of their dreams. In addition to artisans who offer wigs, weapons, jewelry, make-up and various accessories, experts will be present who will explain how to sew, cut and model! A cultural phenomenon, that of Cosplayers, which has been affecting and involving thousands of children from all over the world for years. .

In fourteen years Cartoomics has grown a lot and must continue to do so by adapting to the new needs that the comics and youth entertainment sector puts into place every year declares Roberto Bombonati, general manager of Rassegne, a company of the Fiera Milano group that organizes Cartoomics. The task of our event must be to celebrate the historical comic strip involving the big signatures' of the past but also to keep alive the interest of the most disparate commercial realities that gravitate around this sector. To do this, Cartoomics involved the Franco Fossati Foundation which for years has been very active on the Italian territory and beyond, proposing hundreds of events and taking care of an extraordinary conservation work, collaborating with publishing houses, international exhibitions and other realities active in this very area. field. Not only. As already experienced with great success last year, Cartoomics will have travel companions who will guarantee a pleasant recreational setting. Furthermore, after the great success of the last edition, the lucky twinning with the Exhibition of Artisan and Quality Beer and the Exhibition of Quality Chocolate, to which is added a new event: Certi Cibi - 1st Review on Good Food Habits and Quality Production; Organic, Traditional and Origin. As in the past year, with just one entrance ticket (full € 5,00) you can visit all the events. .

`` I believe that Cartoomics must strive to keep intact its position as an important event in the sector, '' he declares Luigi Bona, president of the Franco Fossati Foundation and of the new scientific committee placed at the artistic guide of the Salone. Milan has always been the capital of Italian comics: the most important publishing houses were founded here, the greats of the past drew here, here are the main training realities of the so-called new generation. Cartoomics has expressed a renewed attention to the potential of comics and its creative and entrepreneurial induced, which we believe to be the main condition for an adequate repositioning of comics and animation made in Italy on the international scene. The Franco Fossati Foundation intends to make an important contribution, providing the added value that only a fair organization of such importance can give. The event could therefore arrive at the 2008 appointment, the official centenary of Italian Comics, with renewed cultural impetus, involving all, absolutely all, the sectors that make up the comics and animation market, with a side dish involves games and videogames, graphics, illustration, advertising and licensing. Obviously we will give visibility to Italian productions, space for new trends, attention without prejudice to foreign authors and markets (Europe, the United States and Japan, but also China and Latin America) and new technologies. Children will have the opportunity to discover how fascinating it can be to look around the world and back in time, discovering the vastness of a creative universe rich in the colors of fantasy. 2008 will be the great year of comics: the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the legendary Corriere dei Piccoli and other fantastic celebratory coincidences will allow us to organize a wide-ranging event that involves the whole city, a Milan that must return to being the capital of Italian comics. .
