Tenth edition of the International Competition Spirito di vino

The Milan International Tourism Exchange - from 19 to 22 February 2009 - will be the ideal setting to present the activities carried out by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Wine Tourism Movement and the news for 2009, among which the launch of the tenth international competition stands out. “Spirito di Vino”, dedicated to satirical cartoons on the world of wine and created in collaboration with the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, the Municipality of Udine, the European Institute of Design in Milan and the Cassa di Risparmio del Friuli Venezia Giulia.

With the occasion to celebrate the tenth anniversary, the competition will also be exceptionally open to artists over 35 years of age, who will thus have the opportunity to join one of the most anticipated events for aspiring humorists and cartoonists.

The "Spirito di Vino" competition immediately met with extraordinary success, registering significant interest from the world of young people and this is demonstrated by the over 5000 cartoons that in these ten years have come to our region from 50 countries around the world, including Italy, Albania, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, China, Germany, India, Israel, Indonesia, Palestine, Portugal, Czech Republic, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Syria, Spain, Turkey, USA.

Sensitize young people to the culture of drinking well and with awareness, in line with the ethics of quality and careful consumption. This is the thought underlying the MTV operating philosophy and if you can communicate it in an ironic way then the game is done! Here, “Spirito di Vino”, which has become an artistic and cultural moment of high quality, has been able to create a highly suggestive moment for the general public around the theme of the competition, but above all for young people who have always been the active protagonists.

All the works come together in the Spirito di Vino Calendar, which is honored every year to important personalities of journalism and communication, moreover, the selected works are exhibited in a collective exhibition alongside those of the great masters of satire.

Spirito di Vino was born in 2000 within the Friuli Venezia Giulia Wine Tourism Movement, conceived by President Elda Felluga and supported with impetus by the great masters of Italian satire, Giorgio Forattini, Emilio Giannelli and Alfio Krancic, which was later added in 2005 Valerio Marini, jury of excellence together with the scientific director of the European Institute of Design Aldo Colonetti, the art director of the Corriere della Sera Gianluigi Colin, the journalists Franz Botré, Carlo Cambi, Paolo Marchi, the editorial director of the Touring Club Michele D'Innella and by the radio hosts of Decanter Fede & Tinto.

Participants can submit their works to from February 19th until August 31st 2009 by post to the headquarters of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Wine Tourism Movement (Via del Partidor 7 - 33100 Udine), via the e-mail address spiritodivino@mtvfriulivg.it or by accessing the Spirito di Vino form on the website www.mtvfriulivg .it.

On the deadline for submitting the works, the jury will meet at the European Institute of Design in Milan to select the best 30 cartoons, among which three absolute winners will be chosen who will receive a selection of wines from the wineries associated with the Movimento Turismo del Vino Friuli Venezia Giulia: 150 bottles for the first classified, 100 bottles for the second and 50 bottles for the third. The awards will take place on 19 September 2009 in Udine on the occasion of the great Friuli Doc food and wine event and those who fall within the shortlist of thirty will be invited to attend the awards as guests of honor of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Wine Tourism Movement, which will create a real exhibition open to the general public with all the selected works.
