Netflix announces the CG animated series of The Knights of the Zodiac: Saint Seiya Remake Anime

Netflix announced at its "Netflix Anime Slate 2017 event" that the comic manga de The Zodiac Knights di Masami Kurumada had a new adaptation in CG computer graphics animation. The anime will be an original series of Netflix by Title Knights of the Zodiac: Saint Seiya .

The first season divided into 12 episodes tells the story of the galaxian warriors and the silver bows of the manga. Each episode will last approximately 30 minutes. Netflix describes the story of the anime:

Knights of the Zodiac: Saint Seiya follows the modern adventures of young warriors called "Knights", who are protected and devoted to Athena, the reincarnation of the mythological Greek goddess. Each Knight wears powerful armor based on the chosen zodiac constellation, and they are called Knights of the Zodiac. They help Athena in her battle against strong Olympian gods who are willing to destroy humanity.

Yoshiharu Ashino (Tweeny Witches, CROSS ANGE Rondo from Angel and Dragon) directs the Toei Animation series. Eugene Son (Duel Masters, B-Legend, Battle Bedaman writer) is the story editor and lead writer. Terumi Nishii (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable, Penguindrum) is designing the characters, and Takashi Okazaki is designing the armor.

 

Kurumada will resume his Saint Seiya: Next Dimension - The Myth of Hades in September. Kurumada began serializing the manga in 2006 and the most recent "season" ended in February. Akita Shoten's Weekly Shonen Champion magazine have announced at the time that the series will resume with next season this summer. After the previous "season" of the manga, Kurumada put the manga on hiatus from January 2014 to December 2015. The tenth volume was released in June 2016.

Kurumada published the original Saint Seiya manga from 1986 to 1990. The manga inspired a series of television anime, OVAs, anime films and spinoff manga. The Saint Seiya: Saintia Sho spinoff manga, recently licensed by Seven Seas Entertainment.
