It was the year 1963 when Charlier and Giraud created Blueberry. The lieutenant immediately stands out: tenacious, unruly, he does not hesitate to break military rigor or to desert to carry out his missions. The script uses all the points of reference typical of the American western and always surrounds the protagonist with characteristic characters and evocative names, as well as creating situations that highlight the lieutenant's courageous and indomitable spirit, as for example in this episode where he went at the Indian camp to meet Kociss, Blueberry suffers an ambush from the one in whom he had placed his trust.

Geronimo also has his own double, the one that Blueberry has faced in the past and the apache of the present that lurks near Tombstone.

This story is built on a challenge: the hero, glued to a game table in a previous story, spends this episode nailed to bed. But this does not prevent Giraud from building the story in an admirable way and with irresistible characters. The design also lives up to his skill, down to the smallest detail.
