Akiko (Mark Crilley)
Akiko by Mark Crilley is what is usually called "a story for all ages". This independent American comic, produced by the Sirius label, has gained a large following over the years as well as the respect and acclaim of critics and colleagues. akiko is a Japanese girl who finds herself catapulted on Smoo, a planet with bizarre inhabitants, inserted in a galaxy that proves to be even more bizarre and surprising. Her adventures, full of a palpable sense of wonder and not without moments of poetry, will lead her to visit the most disparate places, according to a proven formula that does not always exclude new possibilities, and offers its author the opportunity to playfully experiment with the medium, creating meta-stories intertwined on three horizontal bands (many years before Lewis Trondheim did), or constantly changing style and register. 13.5x21, B., 144 pp, b / n
