The cartoon tells the story of Adora, a warrior of the terrible army of the Horde, led by the monstrous Hordak, the tyrant who subdues the population of the planet Etheria. She is one of the best soldiers in the army, so she is selected to become the new captain of the Horde forces whose mission is to destroy the Great Rebellion
led by a group of princesses and thus be able to become the queen of Etheria. On a secret escape to Whispering Forest, Adora finds herself separated from her teammate and best friend Catra and discovers a magical sword that transforms her into the mighty warrior She-Ra. Adora decides to go back alone to the forest to retrieve the sword and here she meets Glimmer, a daredevil princess and Bow, a heroic and generous archer. Adora is captured by them and slowly discovers the world around her and the too many that had been told to her by Hordak. He then decides to betray the Horde and those who raised it, to swear allegiance to the Great Rebellion. He learns that She-ra is a princess, the princess of power, who aims to restore balance in Ethernia, uniting all the princesses in the Great Rebellion. She will be helped in her search by the other princesses and members of the rebellion, all with very different but complementary powers.

Fans of classic 80s cartoons and strong female leads patiently counted the days until DreamWorks Animation Television's new reboot of She-Ra and the Princesses of War debuted on Netflix. Thanks to Stevenson and the team of artists and writers working on the show, this isn't your standard fantasy adventure series, as it features gorgeous anime-inspired visuals, dynamic and interesting characters, and thrilling storylines in serial format. "We wanted to make sure the characters were true to the spirit of the original show, but we took some liberties"says Stevenson during a recent telephone interview."We loved the sci-fi fantasy elements and the 80s origins of the show, but we also wanted to update the characters for today's audience. So we have different body types, different races, shapes and characters who dress in different ways. "
