They landed on Italian screens in April 2004 thanks to Cartoon Network, within the Toonami program and are currently also broadcast on Boing. The series is based on the American comic Static Shock, produced by Milestone Comics and tells the story of African-American teenagers Virgil Hawkins, who lives in the mysterious American city of Dakota city. Due to his mild temperament, Virgil is often the victim of bullying at school. This situation is however completely upset by the effects of the explosion of a powerful mutagen gas, which allows it to control an extraordinary electromagnetic energy. And our protagonist becomes ... Static Shock, the defender of the weakest. Thanks to the help of his friend Richie Foley, who will support him from the point of view of scientific and technological innovations, Virgil will fight the metahuman criminals who threaten his city. Virgil attends high school is lazy in nature and in moments of relaxation, he loves listening to music with earphones. However, when he receives some phone calls from Richie, to warn him of some danger, he does not hesitate for a moment to take action as Staic Shock and face the mutant on duty. Thanks to the perfect control over electromagnetic energy, Static Shock can materialize electromagnetic force fields that can take on any form, in particular the cage that imprisons enemies. Among the enemies we remember Ebon, the shadow man in charge of all the criminal mutants. He has declared war on men, as they consider mutants as dangerous beings, to be isolated. In this he is assisted by the alliance with Talon, the bird woman and Shiv, a boy who never lacks the ironic vein and is able to launch beams of energy. We also remember Hot Streak, a guy who can command fire as he pleases. The series is clearly inspired by Marvel superheroes, among all X-Men , from which he drew the characteristic of mutants marginalized by society.
