Welcome to the NHK is a comedy-genre anime (original title is "NHK ni Yokoso!") And is broadcast on Man-ga from Monday to Friday at 21,50, and in replication on Saturday from 20,00 to 20,55 and Sunday from 20,00 to 20,25, for a total of 24 episodes. The series was created by the GONZO studio (the same as Full Metal Panic e Last Exile) under the direction of Yusuke Yamamoto. The anime is taken from the manga of the same name in 2004 by Kenji Ooiwa, published in Japan by "Kadokawa Shoten", for a total of 8 volumes, while in Italy it arrived thanks to the publication of the Jpop publishing house.

The title of the first episode is "Welcome to the project!", in which the protagonist Tatsuhiro Sato is introduced, an individual who in Japan defines a" hikikomori ", that is terrified by the idea that everything around him is part of a conspiracy. A hikikomori is a sort of recluse, a person who isolates himself from the rest of society, to devote himself to reading manga and virtual meetings via the internet, thus creating an imaginary world. Sato, has dropped out of university and still lives in his parents' house, without even a job. A key character in this episode, and in the rest of the series is Misaki Nakahara, a somewhat mysterious girl, as shy as Sato, who confesses to him that she knows everything about him, but above all that she knows how to cure his constant state of anxiety and make him stop d 'being a hikikomori.

In the second episode "Welcome to the creator!", Sato has received a contract from Misaki, in which all the steps to be taken in order for a hikikomori to heal are explained. The first thing is to confide all your moods to your supporter, who in this case is obviously Misaki. Sato's mind works in a rather bizarre way, and in fact he convinces himself to join the girl again in the park, their meeting point, only in the hope that she will be raped by a maniac, making him famous as the friend who, indirectly, has caused the violence. Arriving at the appointment, Sato tries to convince the girl that he is not a hikikomori, and that he stays at home all day because he designs software. Misaki, however, does not believe a single word, but when Sato returns home he discovers that his neighbor is Kaoru Yamazaki, a boy who years before Sato had saved from some bullies. The young man is studying to become a video game programmer and Sato decides to steal a manual from him, so as to make him more credible. ile his lie with Misaki, but he says he can show her his game only in a month. In the end, however, the protagonist and Yamazaki will really find themselves designing a video game and given the short time available to them, they decide to create an erotic one.

The third episode is entitled "Welcome to the beautiful girls!"where Yamazaki tries to explain to Sato what they will have to do, and Sato seems to really appreciate the idea of producing an erotic game, to the point that he asks Yamazaki to lend him some of his own for a month, almost completely forgetting the work he will have to do , or write the story and outline the characters. The young man, however, does everything but the task he had set himself, and when his friend points out to him what image the world has of him, that is that of a maniac, he begins to behave as such, absurdly meeting the appreciation of Misaki, who deems him perfect for his project.

This is truly a spectacular anime, characterized by strong ironic tones and, at the same time, by a twilight and dramatic atmosphere, indeed outlining a real problem in Japan. The entire series is seen from the perspective of Sato, who distorts the reality that surrounds him in every possible way, often finding himself in absurd situations (such as kitchen and home objects that come to life), which makes the episodes smooth and pleasant. the vision. An exhilarating insight into the conditions of hikikomori in Japan and of all the children who live isolated from the world and locked up in their apartments. Given some topics covered, this anime is recommended only for an adult audience.
