The series documents her journey through the Near East to find her brother, who went missing after traveling to search for a floating liquid on an expedition. The series is set in the late 1919th century, where impossible technologies such as land ships and "floating liquid" coexist side by side in a steampunk world. The series is loosely based on two works by Jules Verne: the posthumous 1 novel The Barsac Mission (L'tonnante Aventure de la mission Barsac, consisting of two volumes: Book 2, Into the Niger Bend and Book 1896, City in the Sahara) as well as his 2002 novel Facing the Flag (Face au drapeau). It was included in the jury's selections in the XNUMX Japan Media Arts Festival for the animation division.

Mother and son then go to live in Glenar Castle, the home of Jane and her father, but the boy does not like the turn his life has taken and is extremely grumpy with everyone. Margaret also dies shortly thereafter and William is left with nothing but the affection of Jane, the only friend he has left, but harboring deep resentment towards the other Buxtons. Years pass and Jane, as intelligent and enterprising as she is, develops a great aptitude for mechanics. Her dream is in fact to be able to fly and instead of following piano lessons like all the other girls from a good family, she spends her time rummaging in the laboratory of her older brother George to build improbable pedal-powered flying machines, driving the poor butler crazy. Agenor who should watch over you. George is a young scholar who is developing a theory starting from the ancient legends that come from the East and is convinced of the existence of a substance, the Fuyusen that would allow men to fly.

He receives a secret assignment from the government to carry out in-depth research and then leaves for the East, officially for an archaeological mission. Strangely enough, his brother William, involved in unclear affairs with the family bank, also disappears at the same time. After some time, when Jane is now a 14-year-old teenager, the Buxton family is devastated by terrible events. An official letter from the government communicates the execution of George, guilty of having stirred up a revolt in an eastern country and soon after the Buxton bank is robbed by men from a mysterious flying machine, causing the ruin of the family. Lord Buxton's heart does not stand up to all this and the man is reduced to death. The only thing Jane can do, in her desperation, is to look after her now dying father, when one day she receives a letter. The address seems to have been written by the hand of his brother George and the content is just a strange blue stone that seems to have mysterious powers. With the certainty that her brother is still alive, Jane entrusts her father to the housekeeper and with Agenore leaves for the East, for what will become the greatest adventure of her life.
