Taken from the manga comic Babel nisei, of 1972 written by Mitsuteru Yokoyama and drawn by Mitsuteru Yokoyama, the cartoon Babil Junior was made the following year by Toei Animation, for a total of 39 episodes, each lasting 25 minutes. The protagonist is Koichi, a young man who would lead a normal life together with his uncles and his cousin Yumiko, were it not for the obsession with strange dreams and visions of a very tall and gigantic tower. He then decides to follow the call of a voice and to go to Mesopotamia to find the remains of the ancient tower of Babel, which is narrated in the book of the Bible. Here he meets an alien named Babil Primo, who landed on earth at the time of the Babylonians and equipped with a technology superior to that of men. Babil built a base under a tower, to defend herself against the arrival of Yomi, an ancient demon who wants to rule the world.
Koichi is a descendant of Babil and will have the task of protecting the earth thanks to the special Esp powers that are given to him, thus becoming Babil Junior.
With each episode his powers will increase to be able to face a new battle. In the fight against the mighty Yomi, he will be helped by the beautiful Roden, a cyborg girl able to take on any appearance (such as that of a black panther or in liquid substance) and to drain the energy of the enemies, from Ropuros a pterodactyl that shoots rays laser from the mouth and from Poseidon a gigantic robot that emerges from the bottom of the ocean, capable of firing missiles and laser beams from the arms and eyes. Inside the tower, Babil Junior will be assisted by a mega computer capable not only of processing any type of data and information, but also of operating defense weapons present in the shelter.
