The series is divided into two seasons, the first consisting of 21 episodes and the second of 13, all lasting 22 minutes.
In these adventures Topo Gigio is an astronaut who lives in 2395. Due to a technical failure in his spaceship, Topo Gigio finds himself traveling in time and crashing on the earth of today. Topo Gigio finds the world completely changed compared to his: men hunt mice, which in today's world are viewed with disgust, while in the future they have the same dignity as men. Fortunately for him, Topo Gigio is adopted by Gina, a 9-year-old girl who protects him from a cat that is always ready to hunt him down. Topo Gigio will also make the acquaintance of Mimì, a romantic mouse, also a friend of Gina. Also in this cartoon Topo Gigio does not deny his fame as a gluttonous (he goes crazy for gruyere) and romantic cuddly. Despite its small size, it always manages to get out of trouble thanks to its cunning and collaboration with other mice, especially when it has to deal with the cats of the neighborhood.
