The Dinosaur Train (original title Dinosaur Train) is a cartoon for preschool children by Craig Bartlett and the Jim Henson Company, with CGI animation. The series is divided into 2 seasons of 40 episodes and made its debut on the screens of the American channel PBS Kids on 7 September 2009.

Colorful, fun and smart: the Dinosaur Train, broadcast on Rai Yo Yo it represents the perfect compendium of the program loved by both children and parents, even by those who do not look favorably on television.

The plot: the initials show how mom and dad Pteranodon, when the eggs hatch, discover that among their young Tiny, Shiny and Don there is also a pup of Tirannosaurus Rex, buddy This does not prove to be a problem and the extended family coexists peacefully. The episodes then unfold on a more or less similar structure: the puppies are very curious and drawing inspiration from the reality that surrounds them Connie and Arthur (the parents) often lead them to travel on the dinosaur train. What is it about? Of a nice steam vehicle, driven by Mr. Conductor, which through the tunnel of time allows you to travel to discover distant places and times. With this medium, Buddy seeks information on his origins and for him and his brothers these adventures are an inexhaustible source of fun and growth.

There are so many species of dinosaurs that are shown during the different episodes, from the Allosaurus to the Oviraptor, passing through the Triceratops, the Iguanodon or the Brachiosaurus, which first are the protagonists of a specific episode and then are explained in a captivating way by the Canadian paleontologist Scott Sampson, in the course of live-action where the children present try to repeat the complicated names (with often very funny results) of the dinosaurs and participate in the scientist's demonstrations.

The dinosaur train

It is not easy to find a cartoon that brings parents and children together, and that both can watch together while learning something: The dinosaur train instead, it does just that: but what is its secret? To use one of Buddy's favorite expressions, we can make a guess. The series, well designed by Craig Bartlett, has a part of mere fun, given by the adventures of the little protagonists and their supporting actors, but also a rich wealth of information that children aged 4 and up can easily assimilate and explain to them interesting biological theories, as if it were a game: and then you want to put the faces of your colleagues, when you demonstrate that you know what an Ornithomime is?

Finally there is the ethical aspect: The dinosaur train explicitly shows how diversity is not scary or dangerous, but rather a richness that allows you to discover interesting and important things. Buddy T-rex, all the others are Pteranodons, yet they live together in perfect harmony. So what are you waiting for? Everyone on board!
