Pongo is a Dalmatian dog that lives in London with his owner Rudy Radcliff, in a small apartment just a few steps from Ridge Parks. In order to detach Rudy from his work, Pongo tampers with the hands of the clock, so that he can take him out for the usual afternoon walk. Once arrived at the park, Pongo immediately starts looking for Dalmatian and his mistress, who finds herself sitting on the bench near the pond. Pongo realizes that he must take the initiative, in order to involve his master, always too distracted. So he tries to get noticed, stealing the hat from Rudy and placing it on the bench where the lady was, reading a book. Unfortunately, the outcome is not the hoped-for, as the woman and her dog go away Release dateyed. Pongo does not give up like that, drag his master to the woman and turning around the two, binds them with his leash. The two terribly embarrassed and bound by the legs, end up falling into the pond. Despite the events seem to precipitate, because of the discomfort of the woman, soon the two laugh at that funny situation and even between the two dogs bursts the spark of love, for the happiness of Pongo. So it happened also for Rudy and Anita (this is the name of the woman) that in a few months, they marry and go to live in a small apartment. Pongo had finally found the companion of his life, with the Dalmatian Perdita, who after six months from the marriage of her masters, was waiting for the puppies.

To look after the cleaning of the house and the housework, there was the nice housekeeper Nilla, very caring and loving. Life flows peacefully and in harmony, with Rudy always intent on the composition of new melodies. But this idyll is broken by the arrival of the former classmate of Anita: the aristocratic designer Cruella De Vil. The woman comes into the house like a fury, without even saying goodbye and immediately starts looking for dogs, to know if the puppies were born. Despite Anita, looking for a friendly dialogue with Crudeila, the stylist is only interested in knowing when the birth of small Dalmatians will be, as it is attracted by the beautiful speckled coat of the Dalmatian. His presence is so intrusive, that once left, Rudy finds the words for the tune that he composed and he starts humming the famous blues song "Cruella De Vil" (composed by Mel Levin, which in the Italian version is sung by Franco Bolignari) "... Cruella De Mon, Cruella De Mon would scare even a leon is more lethal than a scorpion, Cruella, Cruella De Mon ....". Even Perdita is worried by the woman's words and fears for the fate of her puppies, which come to light a few months later. The number of unborn children is impressive, as many as 15 small Dalmatians. The last of the brood has some problems and seems to be born dead, but thanks to a massage of Rudy, the puppy is revived, for the great happiness of his father Pongo, for this will be called Lucky, which means lucky. However, this beautiful moment is interrupted by the presence of Cruella De Vil, who comes with the intention of buying all 15 puppies. Anita and Rudy are stuck in the decision not to sell the unborn, despite Cruella wants to pay handsomely with a check equal to twice their value. Cruella is furious at this refusal and promises to take revenge for that affront.

Meanwhile the Release dates pass and the puppies enjoy a quiet life, spending their evenings watching television in the company of Pongo and Perdita. Their favorite telefilm is the western, which has as its protagonist the lightning dog. Lucky always wants to watch television, glued to the screen, while Rollie is the most plump puppy that is always hungry. At the end of the transmission the puppies are put all to sleep by Nilla, so Pongo and Perdita can finally take a walk in peace, along with their owners. But there is someone who weaves behind them, in fact their moves are followed by the rogues Horace and Jasper, who wait for the right moment to slip into the house and steal the puppies, by order of Cruella De Vil. Jasper is the determined and enterprising leader, while Horace is the classic gregarious, lazy and fearful. The two of them ring at the door, pretending to be electrician's workers and asking to enter the house for control. The governess Nilla does not trust those shady individuals, so she tries to close the door, but she can do nothing against the impetuousness of Jasper, who forcibly enters the apartment, looking for puppies. Nilla desperately tries to drive them away, but she can not do anything about the swindlers, who take the puppies, close them in a bag and flee in their van. Nilla desperately seeks help and the following day, the news ends up in all the newspapers. To misdirect her friend, Cruella De Vil calls Anita, showing displeasure for the abduction of the puppies. Rudy is firmly convinced that she is the culprit, but Anita does not think her friend could have come this far. Pongo understands that the only way to get some information is to address the "twilight telegraph", or word of mouth of the London dogs. That evening the news of the abduction of the 15 puppies, is communicated to all dogs in the city, which soon spread even among the dogs in the countryside. The animals of an old farm decide to investigate an old villa of Cruella De Vil, which is not far from them.

An old dog called Il Colonnello and the Gatto Tibs, go on patrol and inside a room, find the Dalmatian puppies, supervised by Horace and Jasper. But they are not the only ones, along with them there are 84 others for a total of 99 Dalmatian puppies. The 15 puppies are identified easily, as they are the only ones watching television.
Meanwhile, in the ears of Pongo and Perdita comes the news from the Danish dog, that the puppies were found in the villa De Mon and gives them all the directions, to get to the farm of the "Colonel". Pongo and Perdita begin their run at breakneck speed towards the countryside, through the snowy streets, the blizzards, the marshes and even the icy waters of the river. Meanwhile, at the villa, Cruella De Vil comes up with a great career, alerted by police research, hastens the two swindlers to carry out their work: to kill all the puppies, to make a spotted fur. Despite the wrath of the woman, after leaving the door slamming, Horace and Jasper take it easy and wait for the end of TV broadcasts, before starting the "job". Meanwhile, the cat Tibs, alert the Dalmatian puppies and invites them to escape, through a hole in the wall. The two scoundrels are so intent on following their favorite program, that they do not realize the escape of the puppies. But Tibs did not have to deal with Lucky, who is always stuck in front of the television screen and makes it possible to warn him. After all 99 Dalmatian puppies have finally passed through the hole in the wall, Jasper and Horace are aware of their escape and desperate, they start looking for them. They find Rollie on the stairs, which because of its heaviness, can not run like all the other puppies, but the dogs, taking advantage of the darkness, manage to sneak into the various hiding places of the house, which the same cat Tibs suggests.

When Jasper and Horace manage to find the poor puppies and they are about to hit them with their sticks, Pongo and Perdita arrive, angry, attack the two thieves and biting them with their sharp teeth, making them harmless, even if for a short time. Taking advantage of the confusion, Tibs makes the 99 pups escape from the house and takes them to the farm shelter, where they are joined by Pongo and Perdita. The stop does not last long, because Jasper and Horace, following their tracks, arrive at the farm. However, they did not have to deal with the Colonel and the other animals, which by kicks and bites, give the Dalmatian time to escape. These must face the snow and the frost and to leave no traces, they are forced to walk on the river, completely frozen. Finally they find refuge in a vaccheria, where the attentive cows offer their milk to the puppies, hungry and cold. After this stop they arrive in a small village, where thanks to the help of a Terranova and getting dirty with ash so as not to be recognized, they climb into a truck that will take them back to London. However Cruella De Vil has discovered their deception and gets in pursuit of the truck, along with his henchmen.
