The Care Bears cartoons ("The Care Bears" in the American original) were made by the DIC Entertainment studios in 1985 based on the screenplays by Jean Chalopin and directed by Jim Simon. The series consists of 99 episodes lasting 25 minutes each. Also produced was the 83-minute Care Bears film, directed by Arna Selznick and produced by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. In the episode the colorless city, the dear bears and their cousins enjoy the picnic in the wood of feelings, eating delicious cakes and delicious sweets. Later a group of bears decides to take a trip in the heart-shaped balloon. The balloon gains altitude, but the wind is very strong and takes them away from the woods. Flying over the city the bears realize how colorless this is, but they see a colored house and decide to land, (not without some inconvenience). The group of care bears and their cousins meet the mayor of the sad colorless city, to ask him for help in order to return to the woods, but the mayor refuses to give it to him, as all the inhabitants of the colorless city do not give aid to nobody and they don't even bother to safeguard the environment, each thinking about their own business. Even when they help an old lady cross the street, the ungrateful woman sends them away in a bad way. Meanwhile, the other group of the little bears left in the forest of feelings, aboard the small cloud-shaped boat, sets out in search of their friends and cousins sailing on the rainbow. In the colorless city, the bears meet a little girl willing to help them find their way home. The little girl has not yet turned gray like all the inhabitants of the city, as she lives in the colorful house, but she could soon turn gray too. As they head down a street, they notice that the greyness becomes more and more intense and this also begins to capture some bear that, losing the color becomes selfish and grumpy. The group then goes in search of the source of the greyness, where it is most intense. Meanwhile, however, other bears also begin to fade and become sad. Arrived on the hill they see a large stone that emanates radiation that causes the dullness of the city and the people, but they are unable to sport it because they have become gray and apathetic. Fortunately, the other bears and cousins arrive, who emanating the rays from their hearts, restore the color to their friends and everything around them. Then they push the heavy stone into the bottomless pit, thanks to their powers and finally the little girl and the city regain the color. The mayor happy to have freed himself from that spell that was capturing the city decides to change its name from a colorless city to a rainbow city. The bears after the thanks and the party leave on board the cloud ship to return to the forest of feelings. Note the nice theme song sung by Cristina D'Avena. From 6 September 2010 on Boomerang From 6 September, Boomerang, the satellite channel of the great animation classics, opens its doors to the magical world of The Bears of the Heart, the cult 80s series that has conquered an entire generation of mothers and created a universe of entertainment for children. Born as American Greetings greeting card designs, the famous Bears have become the protagonists of several lines of soft toys, books, comics, CDs, video games, as many as six animated films and two television series. Today, the latest news on Gli Orsetti del Cuore is that they are back on TV, every day on SKY channel 608 (from Monday to Friday at 14.45 and at 19.35 and on the weekend at 9.20 and at 13.30), with an unreleased series (original title Care Bear: Adventures in Care-A-Lot) and all new graphics. Compared to the first production in 1985, the latest series of these new animation classics presents a world full of contemporary objects, recognizable at first sight by “digital natives”. The Bears themselves have a more modern look ... even if they could not fail to be distinguished by a specific color and different magical symbols on the belly, expression of their character and their powers. Five are the Car Bears protagonists: the optimist Allegrorsa who together with the king of laughter Mattacchiorso are the leaders in the new community. Sweet Generorsa is the younger "little sister" of the group and grows lollipops in her garden. Grumpy, easily irritable, with his countless and bizarre inventions only adds to the fun. Finally, the group's new character, the clumsy but well-meaning Pasticciorso, who brings his special humor with him. The new Care Bears stories are set in the clouds of the Kingdom of Much Love (Care-A-Lot in the original version): a fantastic pastel-colored world, where anything is possible. Here the Bears all live together with one goal: to take care of each other and the environment around them. Sometimes, they are forced to use the magical power of their symbol to stop the treacherous and clumsy Grizzle Bear who, along with his robots, tries to thwart them in their missions and steal Much Love. From time to time, then, our tender protagonists bring human beings into their kingdom (such as the children Mckenna and Emma), thus also inviting every little one from home to enter their world, not only to experience wonderful adventures, but also to learn something new about friendship and mutual help. In the same period, 3 films were produced for the cinema: The Bears of the Heart. The film (1985), with the voices of Mickey Rooney and Georgia Engels, definitively consecrated the success of the Bears, becoming the animated film with the highest grossing in 85, surpassed only by Disney productions. The other two films for the big screen: The Care Bears 2. The New Generation (1986) and The Nutcracker Prince and the Care Bears (1987). In 2000, 3 new films made in computer graphics for TV and DVD: Gli Orsetti del cuore. A Day at Toyland (2004), Big Wish Movie (2005) and Oopsy Does It! (2007). This latest feature film celebrates 25? anniversary of the characters, which are linked to the stories of the second and last animated series Care Bears: Adventure in Care-A-Lot, broadcast from 5 September also in Italy, on Boomerang, with the title of Gli Orsetti del Cuore. CURIOSITIES AND QUOTES Their world has become so familiar in the common imagination that it also becomes part of everyday language. In America the nickname Care Bear is very common among girls, similar by assonance to names like Carrie, Carol or Karen. A famous example is the fans of country singer Carrie Underwood, known worldwide as Carrie's Care Bears. In the TV series Heroes, cheerleader Claire Bennet is often called affectionately by her father, Mr. Bennet, Claire Bear to emphasize the sweetness of the character. But already in the 90s series A Blonde for Dad, Cody Lambert often called Karen Foster Care Bear. Over the years, the world and the characters of the Care Bears have been taken as a symbol of a community full of positive and reassuring feelings, easily recognizable by the public. This is demonstrated by references and quotes in various films, including Blade: Trinity, in the popular teen series The OC (Marissa Cooper is very fond of a Care Bear, Generorsa, which often appears in several episodes) or in the lyrics of the song Feel Good Inc. of the most famous cartoon band in the world: Gorillaz.
