Taken from The Seven Samurai by Akira Kurosawa, Samurai 7 is the story of the small village of Kanna persecuted by bandits, every year during the rice harvest. One day the inhabitants decide to react, hiring seven samurai. Thus begins a small battle, which will explode into a great war. The anime follows the plot and characters of Kurosawa's film, adding fantastic steampunk elements to the historical reconstruction of the Sengoku era, such as mecha vehicles, which the samurai face fearlessly armed with katanas. Among the various characters we find Shimada Kambei, a cunning samurai and for this reason he was elected the leader of the group, but he refuses to organize the resistance of the village, because in all his wars he has always suffered defeats. Katsushiro Okamoto is a boy loyal to the samurai rules, who would like to be taught by Kambei. Over the course of the episodes he will mature, which will lead him to become a brave and independent samurai. Gorobei Katayama is an agile and strong samurai, gifted with an excellent fighting technique and a courage willing to sacrifice his life in order to win the war. Shichiroji is Kambei's faithful friend, who fights with a kamayari and is equipped with a mechanical arm that he uses as a hook. Kikuchiyo is a samurai cyborg, who behaves in all respects like a human being. Although very strong, almost invincible, he does not have the typical shrewdness of men. Kyuzo is the "coldest" of the group and also the most enigmatic. He has a heated rivalry with Kambei, but is on his side to improve his fighting technique and keep fit. To fight he uses two katanas, with impressive speed. Heihachi stands out for being able to use sophisticated mechanical and strategic weapons for the defense of the village. Although he has never killed anyone, he joins the samurai group for his strong sense of justice towards the weakest.
