Henry Winkler (Fonzie), Ron Howard (Richie Cunningham) and Donny Most (Ralph Malph) have all resumed their respective roles in the cartoon series Fonzie and the Happy Days Gang. In this series produced in 1980 by Hanna and Barbera and broadcast in Italy in September 1983 on Italia 1 and the various private broadcasters, Fonzie is joined by an anthropomorphic dog called Mr. Cool.

The series focuses on Fonzie and her friends as they are visited by Cupcake, a future girl who drives a malfunctioning time machine. After Fonzie repaired the car, a subsequent accident caused the group to disappear over time.

The series focuses on Fonzie and his friends as they land in a time machine in different periods of history, attempting to return to their present. The introduction to the series was narrated by Wolfman Jack.

After the series ended, the characters of Fonzie and Mr. Cool were introduced in the series Laverne & Shirley in the Army, which debuted on October 10, 1981.

The series was later renamed Laverne & Shirley with Fonzie and represented Fonzie working in the motorpool as a chief mechanic. That series ran until September 3, 1983.
