DogDay originally co-existed harmoniously with the Smiling Critters, each with their own corresponding Bigger Bodies experiment. Following the events that occurred during The Hour of Joy, the group began to split up, leaving DogDay as the sole survivor. CatNap then imprisoned DogDay in a hidden cell within the Playhouse, subjecting him to endless torment due to his disobedience to The Prototype.
After activating the Playhouse's backup generator while fending off the Mini Smiling Critters, the player finds DogDay imprisoned, with several of his limbs missing. While the player has a one-sided conversation with DogDay, the Mini Smiling Critters seize the opportunity and devour DogDay's body, crawling into his skin and using his corpse as a new vehicle to stalk the player.
Appearance
DogDay is an anthropomorphic dog, featuring orange fur that complements his expressive black eyes, floppy ears, and shiny black nose. Its features extend to a sunny yellow outer mouth and belly, while a touch of golden brown adorns its paws, ears, and the left side of its face. In keeping with the other Smiling Critters, DogDay sports a perpetual wide, toothless grin, its inner mouth shrouded in mysterious darkness. A distinctive black zipper gracefully traces its center, displaying a charming gold sun pendant surrounded by orange sunrays.
The Bigger Bodies version of DogDay takes on a ragged and monstrous appearance. Completely bisected at the waist, all that remains of DogDay is a mangled and bloodstained torso, held together by a tan leather belt, presumably to prevent his innards from spilling out. He has large black seams connecting both arms to his body that end in two enormous humanoid hands, and like CatNap, his black pupils have white irises. Also like CatNap, he possesses large black eye sockets with no discernible eyes (until he is possessed by the Mini Smiling Critters), and a large, gaping mouth with no sign of teeth.
DogDay's cartoon appearance is roughly the same as his toy appearance, albeit without the zipper line, with the addition of white pupils and the zipper pendant now attached to a black necklace.
Personality
According to his description on Twitter/X, DogDay is a heroic character and the trusted leader of the Smiling Critters group. As shown by his pendant, DogDay has a sunny demeanor, always looking for the bright side of things and encouraging others in times of need. Like the other six Smiling Critters, excluding CatNap, DogDay appears to have anchraophobia (fear of wind), although he half-heartedly attempts to convince the others that the windy storm will pass. While DogDay inhales The Red Smoke exhaled by CatNap during the final scene of the Smiling Critters cartoon, he displays a more disturbing and sinister personality. He shows signs of insanity, addiction and mania when he inhales CatNap's sleeping Poppy Gas, laughing hysterically with the others until he passes out.
The Bigger Bodies Initiative version of DogDay, known to many fans, consists of a monotonous and superficial tone, likely due to his prolonged imprisonment in the Playtime Co. factory. Despite his confinement, DogDay has extensive knowledge about CatNap, his motivations and other beings such as the Mini Smiling Critters and their opinions on CatNap, as depicted in DogDay's monologue. In DogDay's dismembered state, he is incapable of moving beyond simple head movements and twists. He appears to be aware of his situation and prioritizes the Player's situation over his in his final moments.
