As an animation and drawing enthusiast, The Wild Robot
it really moved me. When I went to the cinema to see the film, I was full of expectations, but I didn't expect to live such an immersive experience. Based on the beloved book by Peter Brown, a talented author and illustrator, the film manages to perfectly blend adventure, friendship and reflections on the relationship between technology and nature, creating a visually extraordinary and narratively touching world.
The story follows Roz, a robot who finds herself shipwrecked on a wild island. Her cold, programmed nature quickly clashes with the natural environment around her. However, as time passes, Roz begins to interact with animals and discover what it truly means to be "alive." Her friendship with Baby Brightbill, a little duckling she decides to adopt, becomes the beating heart of the film. Together, they go through difficult trials, learn to survive and defy the laws of nature, while Roz discovers that empathy, sacrifice and love can exist even in a machine.
Roz is surrounded by a series of extraordinary characters, such as Fink the fox, Thorn the bear, Longneck the goose and Thunderbolt, the majestic falcon. Each of them brings a unique contribution to the story and reinforces the message of connection between living beings, despite their differences.
As an animation fan, I was really impressed. The details of the natural landscape and the unique design of Roz create a wonderful contrast. The forest, the water, the skies - everything seems alive. But what really shines are the characters. The animators managed to give expression and life not only to the animals, but also to a robot, and that is far from easy. The progressive "humanization" of Roz is depicted so delicately that you find yourself feeling empathy for her from the first minutes.
The relationship between Roz and Baby Brightbill is the emotional heart of the film. It is a story of motherhood and growth told with a simplicity that moved me. There is no forcing, only authentic moments of protection and care that show how family can be born even in unexpected ways.
Another strong point of the film is its ecological message.
The Wild Robot It is not only an adventure story, but also a reflection on how technology and nature can coexist and, in some cases, even enrich each other. The message is clear but never preachy: it invites us to respect the environment and to see the beauty in the connections we create with the world around us.
Leaving the cinema, I felt inspired, so much so that I decided to create some coloring pages of the characters from the film. Drawing Roz, Baby Brightbill and all the others allowed me to relive the magic of the story, bringing my memories to life through art. The Wild Robot is a true visual and emotional experience that stays with me, capable of touching both the little ones and the adults.
If you are a fan of animation, deep stories and reflections on life, I highly recommend watching it. And if you are, like me, a fan of drawing, don't forget to check out the coloring pages: a great way to continue the adventure in the world of Roz and her friends!
