DONKEY XOTE

Donkey XoteThe cartoon DONKEY XOTE, a film co-produced by Lumiq Animation of Turin and the Spanish Filmax and directed by the Spanish director Josè Pozo, is released on October 31st in 100 Italian theaters, distributed by Lumiq Distribution in collaboration with Revolver.
The film in the Italian version shines for the close and never banal dialogues, thanks also to the courageous choice of relying on the comic verve of Carlo Turati and Antonio De Luca, historic pair of authors from the Zelig school, for the rewriting of the screenplay.

HISTORY. Loosely based on Don Quixote, the film tells the story of Cervantes' hero seen by Rucio, the donkey of Sancho Panza, according to whom the famous dreamer knight of La Mancha was not mad at all, but an intelligent, passionate and enthusiastic man of action, ready to do anything to defeat the terrible Knight of the Moon and thus reveal the true identity of his beloved Dulcinea. A story of arms and love, of travels, adventures and great friendships. With a good dose of humor and comedy.
PRODUCTION. Born from the collaboration between the Italian production company Lumiq and the Spanish Filmax, the film was produced following technological and budget standards equal to those of major international productions.
An Italian-Spanish co-production that saw more than 150 Italian technicians and artists specialized in the various sectors of 3D animation working in the Lumiq Studios, located within the complex of the Virtual Reality & Multi Media Park in Turin, for about 1 million man / hours worked, and a render farm with 500 processors that worked tirelessly 24 hours a day.
The film enjoys the contribution of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage.
Donkey Xote, already distributed in several countries, in Italy had its national preview at the Fiuggi Family Festival last August. The film also inspired the video game of the same name, also available in Italy for various platforms.

Donkey XoteCHARACTERS. The character that inspires the title of the film is the likeable RUCIO, a brave donkey, even naive but deeply pervaded by a sense of honor and justice, convinced that he is becoming a horse because of these qualities. Faithful to his master Sancho Panza, he has boundless admiration for Don Quixote and his heroic deeds.
Next to Rucio we find RONZINANTE, the mature steed of Don Quixote who confirms himself to be cautious, scrupulous and even a bit cowardly. Deeply eager for a normal life, at the end of the many wanderings with Don Quixote, he will be able to return to his true vocation as a director of musicals in which the hens of the farm where he lives are the protagonists.
DON QUIXOTE is precisely the archetype of the romantic hero: handsome, idealistic, guided by an innate sense of friendship. We meet him in the film when the fearsome Knight of the Moon challenges him to a duel by giving away the revelation of Dulcinea's true identity, the love of his dreams. SANCHO is definitely the opposite of Don Quixote, small, robust, very concrete but with a big heart.
DIRECTOR. Spaniard JOSE POZO has to his credit an endless list of titles both as producer and director of documentaries, commercials, video clips and animation for television and cinema. In 2000 he joined the Filmax Group as creative director of the animation division. He directed El Cid la Leggenda (released in Italian cinemas in 2004) and worked on the films Gisaku and Nocturna, presented at the 64th Venice Film Festival.
