Pirates of the Caribbean: the curse of the phantom chest
After the great success of The curse of the first moon the pirate Jack Sparrow (played by Johnny Depp) returns to the cinema, always accompanied by the two betrothed Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley). Just as they are about to get married, Will and Elizabeth are accused by the East India Company of facilitating Captain Sparrow's escape, so they are arrested along with Governor Weatherby Swann (Elizabeth's father) and sent back to the Caribbean Sea to hunt for Sparrow and a precious and mysterious chest.
For his part, Jack is not doing very well, in fact he is hit by a curse as he sold his soul to Davey Jones to find his ship, The Black Pearl. Davey Jones is a half-demon, half-fish pirate who, aboard the ghost ship called the Flying Dutchman, destroys all the ships that are on his route, dragging the souls of the sailors into the abyss. He is also able to summon the legendary Kraken, monster of the oceans that with its tentacles could crush any ship. The only possibility that remains for Jack Sparrow is to face the pirate and pierce his heart which is closed right in the coffer area, in order to cancel the curse that is turning him into a damned soul. But first you will need to find the key that keeps the chest closed. When Jack Sparrow reunites with his friends Will and Elizabeth, despite their common goal, conflicts will arise, as Jack does not hide the love he feels towards Elizabeth, which will send his young boyfriend into a rage. The film is spectacular and holds for over 2 and a half hours, without a minimum of boredom. This film offers a great deal of adventure, Roccambolesque fights, mystery, fantasy, all embellished by the overflowing personality of the histrionic and refined Captain Sparrow, always ready for the irreverent joke. All the characters are characterized much better than in the previous film starting with Will and Elizabeth, who carve out a role of first piamo for much of the film, without forgetting the terrible Davey Jones, destined to become a new icon of Disney villains.
