THE ICE AGE 3 - DAWN OF THE DINOSAURS
Starting from Friday, August 28, 2009, the nice characters of the Cambrian Era return to the cinema, who after having overcome the difficulties of the thaw, they encounter an even more dangerous and exciting adventure: the dinosaurs that survived extinction. "Ice Age 3 - Dawn of the Dinosaurs" achieved the box office record in the United States, also thanks to the innovative 3D vision system using special glasses.
It all begins when Sid the sloth decides to start a family with some dinosaur eggs he has found. The group must suddenly set out on a mission to save the unfortunate Sid and venture into a mysterious underground world, where close encounters with dinosaurs, pugnacious plants and other ferocious animals take place, and where a fighting weasel named Buck lives eye, always on the hunt for dinosaurs.
ICE AGE 3 - DAWN OF THE DINOSAURS has everything that audiences loved in the first two films, but the animated comedy is more action-packed and spectacular effects, as well as being (in many cases) embellished from 3-D. Our beloved heroes live an unprecedented adventure and, alongside them, we find some new memorable characters. Another novelty in this third episode of the Ice Age is an immense and incredible underworld populated by dinosaurs. The luxuriant environment, in stark contrast to the winter habitat of the first two films, makes the vastness of the overlying ice world seem little. This territory is full of dangers - carnivorous plants, gigantic creatures, a possessed weasel and a cunning and romantic companion for Scrat, named Scrattina - and places with menacing names, such as the Abyss of death. Even Manny the mammoth, the largest and most authoritative mammal of the Ice Age, feels helpless in this immense world. When the dinosaurs appear, Manny is no longer the king of the jungle, says comedy legend Ray Romano, who returns to voice the most famous fluffy mammoth in cinema. The new world arises from the filmmakers' desire to immerse Ice Age characters in different situations and confront them with unexpected challenges.
The new chapter in the great adventure of Ice Age friends begins with the diverse family group consisting of the mammoth Manny, his wife Ellie (expecting a baby mammoth), Sid the sloth, Diego the saber-toothed tiger and possums Crash and Eddie. Their life is changing and everyone is finding their place in the family. Manny, the de facto leader of the group, is preparing to face a new challenge: fatherhood. He is taking this very seriously, to the point of attempting to make the natural environment in which the incoming pup will live safer, by removing the numerous boulders, branches and other potential `` dangers '' in the vicinity. Manny believes in marriage and is very much in love with his Ellie, after the stormy start of their relationship in Ice Age 2 The Thaw. Ellie's pregnancy totally absorbs Manny, to the point of making him little aware of the fact that his friends are also facing challenges and changes. Sid, who has some sort of `` big brother / younger brother '' relationship with Manny, feels that Manny won't let him become part of the new family. So, when he discovers three huge eggs in a cave, he decides to take them and start a family of his own. Manny begs his friend to return the eggs, but Sid is adamant and, after a while, three baby dinosaurs are born. Even though they are twice the size of Sid, newborns immediately accept the sloth as mother and start imitating every movement, becoming 'mini-Sid'. Sid's parental instinct is very strong, but the cubs' mother is a giant T-rex - far from happy with what has happened. 
The ensuing complications, as always happens when Sid is involved, involve all his friends in an adventure into the unknown underworld. As the relationship between Sid and Manny changes, the dynamics in the family group evolve and the adventure takes place mostly in a new environment; what remains unchanged in the sloth are its propensity for antics, the desire to be taken seriously and the big heart. Manny's best friend, the saber-toothed tiger Diego, is experiencing a different kind of crisis: lately he has felt more like a big cat than a threatening feline, and fears that living with friends is making him lose his hierarchical role. Instead of taking part in the preparations for the baby's arrival, Diego walks away, wondering if the time has not come to leave the pack.
Ice Age: The Meltdown has highlighted Scrat's new behaviors and frustrations, while his research remains unsuccessful. He is the one who initiates the thaw and subsequent flooding, but it is always he who finally manages to resolve the situation. Scrat demonstrates remarkable martial arts skills as he battles a killer fish that stands in his way. ICE AGE 2 - DAWN OF THE DINOSAURS further raises the stakes for Scrat, joining him with an acorn-hunting rival: a sly and attractive female squirrel / mouse named Scrattina. The battle between the sexes adds a new level of fun and action, as well as a romantic note to the beleaguered character. Indeed, for the pair of rodents, the blossoming of love goes hand in hand with the struggle for the acorn, for example in the scene in which the two are first entangled, then engaged in a sort of dance to the notes of the classic by Lou Rawls. You ll Never Find Another Love Like Mine.
Another new character in the Ice Age universe is Buck, a slightly freaked out, one-eyed reckless weasel who accidentally fell into the world below. There he met Rudy, a terrifying albino dinosaur who poked out his eye while Buck pulled out a tooth during their first, fatal encounter. Like Moby Dick's Captain Ahab, Buck has devoted his life to revenge against the giant creature that disfigured him. Buck, a solitary mammal in a world of gigantic lizards, has lived in isolation for a long time, perhaps too long, so he usually talks to the trees and shrubs that surround him. Buck has an anatomical advantage in dealing with the dangerous environment and his increasingly evil nemesis Rudy.
