Batman Ninja the Japanese animated film due to be released on DVD and Blu-ray in 2018, directed by Junpei Mizusaki and produced by Warner Bros. Takashi Okazaki, the graphic creator of Afro Samurai, is the character designer of the film.
The film featuring scenes in both 2d and 3d graphics is produced by the Kamikaze Douga studio (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Pop Team Epic, Gatchaman Crowds and Amanatsu OAV), based on the subject and script by Kazuki Nakashima. The soundtrack of the film is by Yugo Kanno.
Batman Ninja will be released in Japanese theaters in 2018, while in the United States there is a distribution for home entertainment on DVD and Blu-Ray, although it seems likely that there will be some dates for the cinema through a distributor like Fathom.
The story tells of Batman being sent back in time to the era of the Samurai, in the Japanese Middle Ages, where the Joker has established the basis of his power, following a strange chemical accident. On the Japanese island they are joined by many of Batman's allies and opponents, transplanted from modern Gotham City.
This marks the second Batman project initiated by Japanese studios, following the 2008 anthology film Batman: Gotham Knight.
Leading the cast of the Japanese dub as Batman is VO star Koichi Yamadera - who brought characters like Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop , Inspector Zenigata in Lupine III, Space Captain Harlock e Paperino
- with Wataru Takagi as Joker, Rie Kugimiya like Harley Quinn and Ai Kakuma like Catwoman.
