In America, it was released in cinemas on 1 August and recorded a success that literally overwhelmed that of Thor. The new film produced by Marvel Studios, The Guardians of the Galaxy, promises great success also in Italy where it will be screened on October 22nd. The direction of this superhero movie is by James Gunn and it has a cast of big and bright stars, such as Chriss Pratt, Glenn Close and Benicio del Toro. In America it has made amazing collections, almost 100.000.000 dollars in the first weekend alone.

The film's narrative opens onto a dramatic scene. The mother of the young protagonist, Peter Quill, is dying. The little boy, after the woman's death, is kidnapped by an alien spaceship. The time jump in the second scene is several years. Quill is now a young man. He listens to music and in a dark enough atmosphere he starts dancing. He maneuvers a contraption and removes a particularly interesting sphere from its seat. Discovered, he is confronted by some aliens to whom he claims to be Starlord. The boy manages to escape and take the sphere with him. Back on his spaceship he is contacted by a blue man. This is Yondu, leader of the Ravagers, space pirates who organize robberies and who, after kidnapping him, took care of Quill.

Yondu is annoyed by the behavior of the boy who refuses to go in his presence. So he puts a bounty on him. Quill tries to sell the sphere and for this he goes to Xandar, capital of the Nova empire. At the moment the empire is under siege by the Kree, a cruel and ambitious people led by the insane Ronan, in turn an ally of the evil Thanos. The young man fails to sell the sphere, but is recognized by a pair of thieves, a raccoon and a tree man who aim for the bounty. At the same time he is known by the beautiful Gamora, a green-skinned woman sent by Ronan to film the ball.

The raccoon, Rocket, is the result of an illegal genetic and cybernetic experiment that resulted in an inferior life form. Groot is a humanoid plant, not too intelligent. In prison, the 4 meet with Drax, an inmate with an unfinished business with Ronar who has viciously murdered his wife and daughter. To get revenge he wants to kill Gamora, but Quill makes him reason by claiming that it will be more useful to him while alive.

The 5 criminals, once allied, manage to escape from the security prison. Guided by the green woman, they go to Knowhere, a terrible place where the woman claims to have a buyer for the sphere. Gamora, in fact, had gone to Xandar to retrieve it not to carry out her father's orders, but to obtain the money, through the sale of the sphere, to escape his yoke. The buyer interested in the sphere is Tivan, a cruel collector who continually harasses his collaborator. Once in his house, the 5 show him the sphere. Man, while telling of its power, opens it. You see a kind of luminous sphere. The collaborator, convinced that she can get rid of her master, grabs the light triggering a powerful bang. From this moment the action will be the absolute protagonist of the scene.

The clash between Drax and Ronan sees, as expected, the defeat of the giant, while the others run away. From the fight against her evil sister, Gamora is defeated. His shuttle is destroyed and the green woman is about to perish in space. Quill then intervenes and with a gesture of great courage manages to save her. The events follow one another and the 5 establish a truce with Yondu. The 5 now team up with law enforcement to defend the galaxy, becoming its de facto guardians. The battle between good and evil begins and will spare no blow, also because Ronan wishes to oust Thanos from the throne to take possession of him. After almost 20 minutes of battles and fights interspersed with moments of pure hilarity, we witness the sacrifice of Groot, the tree man who chooses to die to save his friends. The ending holds several surprises including the true story of Quill and Gamora. Happy ending and good feelings, seasoned with special effects of great visual impact and a soundtrack that brings us back in the 80s-90s through an emblematic magnetic tape and a walkman, are the winning ingredients of this film.
