KIRIKU 'AND THE WILD ANIMALS

Kiriku and wild animalsAfter "Kirikù and the witch Karabà" of 1998 and winner of many prizes (such as the British Animation Award), Michel Ocelot's new film "Kirikù and the wild animals" is released in cinemas, which hopes to repeat the success of critics and audience of the previous one, thanks to the charisma of the little African child called Kirikù. The film "Kirikù and the wild animals" is not aimed only at a preschool audience, but at all those who want to enjoy beautiful animated scenes with slow and relaxing rhythms. Thanks to the splendid images, the colors that refer to the paintings of Rousseau ("The customs officer"), the very detailed and meticulous African pictograms and the evocative soundtrack by Manu Dibango, Youssou N'Dour and the songs of Rokia Traorè, the film it differs light years from the current and frenetic animated films shot with the help of 3D computer graphics, making us rediscover the taste of childish simplicity, which will be the narrative key of the entire film.

Kiriku and wild animalsIn the previous film "Kirikù and the witch Karabà" we witness the birth of little Kirikú, who already expresses the desire to be born from his belly. But the African village has been living in terror for some time because the evil witch Karabà has devoured all men, demands gold and jewels from women and has dried up the spring of water, making everyday life difficult. Kirikú decides to leave to challenge the witch and put an end to the spell. She will discover that Karabà is not an evil witch but is inclined to do harm by suffering from a poisoned thorn stuck in her body. The child will be able to free the witch from her pains and restore happiness to the village.
The film "Kirikù and the wild animals" is divided into several self-contained episodes, we find the grandfather who tells the other exploits of little Kirikù when he became a gardener, detective, potter, merchant, traveler and doctor. Kiriku and wild animalsKirikù despite his stature, thanks to his cunning, courage and his incredible speed will face wild animals and dangers of all kinds until he meets the witch Karabà again. In this way, some points left open in the previous film will be drawn, regarding the figure of the little Kirikù who with his pure gaze manages to capture the positive aspect even in the wicked witch Karabà, whom he sees as beautiful and in need of love. The story will highlight all the peculiarities of the African continent such as animals, the importance of water, sowing, women and especially children. A film not to be missed for all lovers of animated cinema.
