Prince of Persia - The sands of time

The film Prince of Persia the sands of time is inspired by the video game of the same name that has sold millions of copies around the world. Walt Disney Pictures and producer Jerry Bruckheimer have decided to bring the character to the big screen, hoping to repeat the success achieved with Pirates of the Caribbean. The film embraces the same genre where action, battles, magic and breathtaking scenes can be found. The story tells of Prince Dastan (played by Jake Gyllenhaal), who escapes together with priestess Tamina (played by Gemma Arterton) to defend the sacred dagger that contains the sands of time, a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow the own owner to rule the world. The prince and the priestess will have to face the numerous criminals hired by the evil Nizam, who wants to possess the sacred dagger.

The film is not the simple adaptation of the video game, but a great epic story, with a classic, very emotional and realistic scheme, which contains many twists. While Dastan's character is very dynamic and athletic, Tamina is very spiritual. Tamina is the Princess of Alamut, a city that is invaded by the Persians and is later kidnapped, therefore she has a visceral hatred towards the invaders. Dastan and Tamina despite having different and apparently contrasting characters, join forces and retrace together the events that are troubling Persia and in this way they learn to know each other. Prince of Persia is not just an action and adventure film, it is not a romantic comedy, there are many dramatic moments and the film drags the viewer in many different directions.
