Robin Hood

Oscar-winning winner Russel Crowe returns to work with the director of Gladiator Ridley Scott in Robin Hood, the film of the legendary hero of Sherwood, whose exploits are part of popular mythology and feed the imagination of all the people who identify with the his spirit of adventure and his ideals. The story takes place in medieval England in the 1200s, when Robin and his band of mercenaries fought the tyranny dictated by King John and the superintendent of Nottingham, against a small village where the population was reduced to hunger due to the huge tributes. Robin, along with a large group of followers, always ready to follow him at the slightest sign. Robin Hood was originally an excellent archer who fought in the army of King Richard I the Lionheart, against the French army. After the King's death, Robin travels to Nottingham, where he witnesses the sheriff's harassment of the population on the verge of famine. In Nottingham he met the beautiful Marion (played by Cate Blanchett), a determined widow who was initially indifferent to the intentions of revolt by the hero of Sherwood. But Robin falls in love with the woman and in order to save the village, he gathers a band of thieves and evildoers all sharing the same ideals of justice and undisputed skills. With England tried by years of wars, suffocated by the bad government of King John and weakened by the danger of revolutions among the peoples and possible enemy invasions, Robin and his band join in to give the decisive blow to the tyrant. This hero and his friends will find themselves having to liberate England which is plunging into a violent civil war and restore England to its former glory. Crowe and Blanchett are the main protagonists of a large cast that includes, among others, Oscar winner William Hurt as William the Marshal, Mark Strong as Sir Godfrey, Mark Addy as Fra'Tuck, Oscar Isaac in the role of Prince John and Danny Huston in the role of King Richard the Lionheart. The film was shot in England and Wales, Robin Hood covers the period from the death of King Richard I in 1199 to the signing of the Magna Carta in 1215.
