In a game where he escapes from the fearless white tip shark Julius, the cute bamboo shark Pup finds himself in unknown seas, in a vast coral reef full of pockets of bamboo shark eggs. But he is not alone. Two divers are taking the eggs. Despite his best efforts, Pup fails to save the egg sacs from poachers.
Julius, in an attempt to lift Pup's spirits, takes him to his home. In a sunken ship where treasure is hidden and where there are also three pilot fish. Julius tries to distract Pup, but he is overwhelmed by his failure.
Meanwhile, black sewage is leaking from a nearby factory, from poisonous industrial waste, and it's coming right into the underwater homes of Julius, Pup, and everyone else! The octopus Octo takes pity on Pup's state and decides to distract him by taking him to a sunken battleship, where he studies and builds his bizarre inventions. His latest creation is inspired by a video of the moon landing, which he observed through the porthole of a submarine, as he searched for pieces of metal and other materials left behind by humans.
Inspired by the spider crabs he encounters in the crevasse, the stingray Spin, always neurotic for fear of being eaten, devises a plan to get rid of Julius once and for all. He takes him, along with Pup and the elderly turtle Mertle, to the poaching ship, now anchored to an unstable dock. Pup recognizes one of the men and the bag with the egg sacs, which he is carrying into a wooden shed. But only the turtle can walk on land and is too old for a rescue mission.
Spin helps Pup discover a secret that Mertle has kept from him ... he can breathe on land like a turtle! While Mertle studies Octo's latest invention, Pup embarks, alone, on a rescue mission. When Mertle sees Spin swimming out of the dark crevice, she realizes that the stingray is up to something. In an argument with Julius, Spin reveals the danger he put Pup into.
Pup arrives at the dock and takes his first breath. Then he goes straight to the shack and enters after the fishermen have left. Inside, he discovers a fish restaurant, with shark fins lined up and sacks of eggs inside water tanks, waiting to hatch and to be served fresh to customers. Suddenly, the men return and Pup throws himself into one of the pools. In the same moments Octo finally completed his invention: a protective suit for fish to move on land, which keeps its occupants in contact with oxygen-rich water, a cross between an astronaut's suit and a space shuttle. Julius and his three assistant pilot fish decide to use it immediately to go to Pup's aid. When Julius arrives on land, he makes strange allies in a group of four chickens and a coconut crab climbing trees, while Pup alone retrieves the egg sacs from the seafood restaurant. Meanwhile, humans understand that there is a bigger fish to catch, namely Julius, with whom excellent soup could be made. In all of this, black slurry continues to float in the ocean, threatening the coral reef and all marine life ...

JULIUS

Every sea creature near the reef is afraid of Julius, but his heroic actions to save the environment from evil forces will make all fish change their minds.
PUP

Mertle
- A wise turtle, who has been traveling in the currents of the ocean for over a century. He hatches a resentment towards sharks, but overcomes it when he realizes Julius' good intentions. Thus, he manages to keep all the friends of the barrier together in the worst moments. Mertle learns that one should not judge a book by its cover, but pay attention to the true intentions of others.
SPIN
- Neurotic due to constant fear of being eaten, Parsnip Spin has devised a plan to get rid of Julius. Take advantage of the depths of the ocean, where evil takes on the guise of an old evil eel.
Caught in the act damaging the reef, Spin realizes that this environment cannot survive without sharks and that they are also very important in the cycle of life.
HEATHER
- A nice hen, very attentive to bright objects. She is pragmatic and provides a fair amount of common sense to her chicken friends. Heather is the one who keeps the group together. Without her, in the most critical moments everyone would run in circles like headless chickens.
COCO
- Having one claw smaller than the other, Coco has always been an outcast. Central to Pup's rescue mission, Coco reveals her worth in the eyes of her crab cousins. - Living in exile, Murray has a strong grudge against Julius and all reef life forms. His obsession with conquering the barrier has brought this eel to the brink of madness. Thanks to Spin's intuition and Julius' distraction, Murray is on the verge of triumph. He starts the invasion with his army of royal spider crabs and nothing seems to stop them.
The origins
The origins of the Seafood project began in 2007. Silver Ant Malaysia had just finished a six-minute trailer to present an animated series about Saladin, the man who united the Muslims during the Crusades. The film was featured at some animation events in Asia and won awards in Seoul and Tokyo. Around that time, the director of Silver Ant Goh Aun Hoe got a call from a government o cial, who asked him to meet him. At the end of the interview, Goh showed him the trailer for Seafood, a project that remained. under development for nine years without finding investors. It was the story of a shark who, tired of sea food, travels to land to taste chicken. In the story there was an implicit message about marine pollution and the massacre of these imposing creatures, needed to bring shark fin soup to the table.
Three months later, Goh received a call from an executive at the Children's Channel of Al Jazeera in Dohar, Qatar, who had heard about the project from this government official. His broadcaster, which had been in existence for two years. , was interested in investing in shark animation.After finally finding the funds, Gon assembled a team of 35 animators to carry out the project within three years.
