Sinbad the legend of the seven seas

Sinbad the legend of the seven seasDecember 19th is the turn of another American animation colossal, this time signed by DreamWorks. This is Sinbad, the legend of the seven seas and is a masterpiece of animation, action and adventure scenes. Contrary to the Disney film "Finding Nemo", "Sinbad, the legend of the seven seas" was created with the technique called "Tradigitally", a skilful mix between traditional 2d animation and animation with Linux 3d computer graphics above all as regards the environments (seas, monsters, smoke etc ...). Directors Patrick Gilmore and Tim Johnson (former author of Z la ant), coordinated and directed the work of over 500 designers and technicians for 3 years. The screenplay is by John Logan ("Gladiator") and was produced by Mireille Soria ("Spirit, Wild Horse") and Jeffrey Katzenberg ("Shek").

The story from the book "One Thousand and One Nights" tells of Sinbad, a brave and braggart pirate who dreams of stealing none other than the precious talisman of "The Book of Peace", around which a legend hovers. In fact, this precious jewel is used to keep peace in the world and prevent it from falling into Chaos. Once he had this Sinbad talisman, he would demand a fabulous ransom and retire to private life in the Fiji Islands. Sinbad then goes to the palace of Syracuse, where the precious jewel is kept and here he meets his dear childhood friend Proteo. Sinbad and ProteoSinbad meets the beautiful Marina, girlfriend of his friend Proteus, and falls in love with her at first sight, which saddens him and makes him forget the idea of stealing the Book of Peace. But the goddess Eris, queen of Chaos plots against him and against world peace, therefore he assumes the guise of Sinbad and steals the talisman, putting the blame on him, who for how many thefts he has committed in his life and for how much not has a very good reputation, this time he is innocent. Sinbad is then arrested and sentenced to death, but his friend Proteus believes that Sinbad is innocent and in the name of ancient friendship, he offers himself a prisoner in place of his friend: if Sinbad does not find the talisman within ten days, Proteus will be sentenced to death. Sinbad embarks on the ship "Chimera" and is followed by Marina,Sinbad and Marina girl with a free spirit and adventurer, who wants to ensure the pirate's loyalty to the commitment made, so she doubts that she will slip away, leaving her betrothed in trouble. Sinbad then heads for the refuge of the seductive goddess of Chaos Eris, who holds "The Book of Peace" in her hand and who in response hurls the monstrous Rok, the snowbird, an island fish, the mermaids at Sinbad and Marina. (beautifully animated) and Sinbad's own bulldog, slobbering Spike. With a thousand fights, spectacular escapes, and breathtaking races, will the adventure come to fruition?

In the original American the characters have been voiced by famous names from Hollywood, Sinbad's voice is in fact that of Brad Pitt, that of Marina by Catherine Zeta-Jones and that of Eris is of Michelle Pfeiffer, in our Italian version Sinbad was voiced by Pino Insegno. The animation and dynamic narrative rhythm are perfect for an adventure film, perhaps at the expense of the psychological characterization of the characters. The leitmotif of the film that emerges is the theme of friendship and loyalty which, for the more educated, will recall the Greek myth of Damone and Finzia. If you want to be amazed by spectacular sequences, acrobatic duels and unimaginable scenarios, this is definitely the film for you.
