The Call of the Wild (The Call of the Wild in the American original) is a 2020 American adventure film based on the novel of the same name by Jack London written in 1903 and the previous 1935 film adaptation by Twentieth Century Pictures. The film is directed by Chris Sanders, in his directorial debut and stars Harrison Ford (in the role of John Thornton), Dan Stevens (Hal), Omar Sy (Perrault), Karen Gillan (Mercedes), Bradley Whitford (the judge Miller) and Colin Woodell (Charles). The film's release is scheduled for February 20 2020
from 20th Century Studios and comes with mixed reviews from critics, as Buck, the dog protagonist of the film is a CGI reconstruction of a St. Bernard dog and on some scenes it would seem to notice a contrast between the animation and the live action acting.
The story tells of Buck, a brave and aristocratic dog, whose quiet home life is turned upside down when he is suddenly kidnapped from his California home and sold to gold diggers and then transplanted into the Canadian Yukon wilderness during the Race. Gold of the 1890s. As a new recruit to a team of sled dogs, of which he will later become the leader, Buck experiences an extraordinary training journey that will lead him to find his true place in the world and become self-master same.
