The children of the sea
(Hepburn: Kaiju no Kodomo, in the Japanese original) is a 2019 animated film directed by Ayumu Watanabe and produced by Eiko Tanaka, with animation created by Studio 4 ° C. It is based on the manga "Children of the Sea" by Daisuke Igarashi, who also wrote the screenplay for the film. It is Watanabe's first film released after Space Brothers n. 0 (2014), and the first animated film adaptation of a manga by Igarashi. The story of Ruka, a rebellious high school student, who is excluded from the club's activities for the entire duration of the school holidays; strongly bored, the girl decides to visit her father at the aquarium where he works. Here he will make a strange encounter with Umi (mare) a foreign boy who seems to have grown up between strange and extraordinary secrets. Fascinated by his way of swimming, which makes him look like a bird in flight, Ruka finds herself, in spite of herself, part of a complex cog larger than herself. At the same time, the whole world is shocked by an anomaly never seen before: all the fish are disappearing.

Mammals 2 - Struggle for Life of the National Museum of Nature and Science on April 17, 2019, after the museum closes. Daisuke Igarashi and Ayumu Watanabe attended the speech and discussed the dangers and threats that wild mammals are facing due to environmental changes with a researcher from the museum's vertebrate research group. The short-term exhibit also features original manga comic drawings Children of the Sea and special unused images that were cut out of the film.
