Totò Sapore

Totò FlavorAfter Enzo D'Alò's Opopomoz, "Totò Sapore" is released in cinemas, another beautiful Italian animated film directed by Maurizio Forestieri and produced by the Italian dream factory: the Magic Lantern, already producer of other famous cartoons such as The seagull and the cat and Aida of the trees. Like Opopomoz, Totò Sapore is also set in Naples and precisely in 1700, when a young storyteller entertained the hungry population by telling them stories that had food as their main theme: succulent lunches, abundant and superfine dishes, very tasty delicacies that even if they did not feed, at least they served to give the public a little bit of illusion and joy. Totò Sapore, armed with a guitar, bass drum on his back, cymbals, rattles on his forehead and a lot of joy, was therefore eagerly awaited by his friends, with whom he shared the precariousness of food and poverty. His dream was to one day become the greatest cook in the Kingdom of Naples. Pulcinella and MestolonTotò Sapore's life begins to change when he makes friends with Pulcinella, who gives him four pots: Marmittone a big grumpy and authoritative pot, Sora Pasta an old sweet and maternal pot, Pentolito a small and lively pot and Tegamino very similar to a dog. . These four apparently unusable pots actually have great magical power, thanks to which they can transform any ingredient, even the most lousy, into an exquisite dish. Thus, thanks to these four pans, Totò Sapore manages to fulfill his dream by becoming the best cook of the king of Naples and to attract the envy of the French chef Mestolon, Trustfather of the beautiful Confiance. Love is born between Totò Sapore and Confiance and this also attracts the ire of the witch Vesuvia, the queen of evil, mistress of magic pots and envious of so much happiness. Due to an ancient spell, the witch is forced to live locked inside the volcano Vesuvius, if she came out she would suddenly find herself petrified, and that is why she envies all the happy Neapolitans who live in the open air. Thanks to the alliance with the evil Mestolon,Vesuvia the witch will be able to unleash a chaos by taking back the magic pots, to make Tot Sapore lose love and to unleash a war, with French troops entering and occupying the city of Naples. When everything seems lost, the brilliant Totò Sapore, thanks to his courage and his imagination, invents a food that will be able to give joy to everyone: pizza.

The story of Totò Sapore is inspired by Roberto Piumini's story "The Captive Cook", while the music and songs are by Eugenio Bennato, known for his Neapolitan tarantellas and the study of Neapolitan ethnic music.

The dubbing of the characters is entrusted to none other than Mario Merola, Lello Arena and Francesco Paolantoni.
