Hilary's series (original title Hikari no densetsu) is taken from the Japanese manga by Izumi Aso in 1985 which arrived in Italy thanks to the Star Comics editions. The cartoon was made by the studios of Tatsunoko which in Italy were broadcast in 1988 on Italia 1 for a total of 19 episodes.
Hilary suddenly discovers her love for rhythmic gymnastics and decides to fulfill her dream of becoming a champion in this discipline. Not being very capable but endowed with a great willpower, she will begin her climb into the world of competition with the support of the junior gymnastics champion Willy. Hilary will begin to feel a lot of affection for this guy who, unfortunately, will consider her only a good friend and a girl of great talent. In any case, this feeling, even if not reciprocated, will only worsen the relationship that the girl has with the best gymnast in the school: the promising Debbie at the same time his friend and rival in turn in love with Willy. The two rivals are both excellent gymnasts, and will often find themselves fighting, albeit with very different styles, against each other for the conquest of the best titles during competitions and to give a hard time to the most famous performers.
