Bambi is the sixth animated feature film and the fifth Disney classic, released in 1942. This film is an adaptation of the novel Bambi, The Life of a Roe Deer by Felix Salten, released in 1923.
Walt Disney began the adaptation project of this work in 1935, shortly after the start of production of his first feature film, Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs. But due to several setback times, the film was delayed several times. Pinocchio, Fantasia and Dumbo are then released before Bambi. Despite or thanks to this, it offers an undeniable graphic quality, presenting very realistic sets and characters.
In the forest, as the sun rises, a blue bird announces the birth of a little prince to the whole forest. In a shrub grove, a deer of the deer species has just given birth to a fawn. Awakened by his mother, he greeted all the animals gathered in a circle around him. A young rabbit, Panpan, notices that the fawn is trying to get back on its feet, but stumbles and falls into its mother. As the owl points out, there is no sleep and the animals leave the mother and her cub. Panpan asks his mother for the fawn's name, she tells him Bambi. In the distance a deer crowned by large woods observes the scene.
The next day, Bambi, walking behind his mother, rediscovers the animals of the forest one by one: partridges, possums hanging by the tail from a branch, a mole digging its tunnel and rabbits including Panpan. Bambi has tripped, the rabbits help him get up and then play in the forest. Arriving at a hollow trunk, Panpan explains the origin of his name: he often hits his foot. Everything is a pretext for learning the young fawn: a fallen tree across the path to jump obstacles, a group of birds eating berries to pronounce the words "sparrow", "butterfly" and "flower". A young skunk hiding in the middle of a bed of daisies comes face to face with Bambi who then naturally named her "Flower".
