Victor Fries is a fictional character created by Bill Finger, Sheldon Moldoff and Dave Wood in the Batman # 121 comics in 1959. He wears the Mister Freeze costume.
Originally a second zone super-villain primarily used as a comic element and called Zero, the character has been completely revised in Batman, the animated series, in which a tragic origin and a more complex personality is given. This new incarnation has been hugely popular with fans and the comic version has been modified to match it.
Victor Fries is a respected scientist, recognized as an expert in cryogenics, when his wife, Nora Fries, becomes seriously ill. Finding no cure, cryogenic to preserve it until it can heal it. So he works for Ferris Boyle's company. Victor illegally uses the company's equipment to protect his wife. When Boyle learns, he sends henchmen to disconnect Nora's device, but Victor Fries objects.
