Shin Hakkenden's cartoons are broadcast on Italia 1 on Tuesdays and Thursdays; at 14,05. The series based on the manga comic Nanso Satomi Hakkenden by Bakin Takizawa is divided into 26 episodes of 25 minutes each.
The story features Kori, a fourteen-year-old boy with red hair who fights with a powerful sword capable of transforming him into the invincible Shin Hakkenden. The tale is set in the near future, when the earth's population is forced to flee the planet to avoid the destruction, which will happen when a huge comet collides with it. Earthlings wander in space for long years, until they come to a planet called Heaven which is ruled by the Empress Fujo. Men split up and go to live in the eight moons of the sky. The Empress Fujo holds great power thanks to the stones that collect extraordinary properties. On these planets the technology is very advanced, but although the quality of life is very high, some evil beings have upset this balance for their thirst for supremacy and power, therefore they try to subdue the weaker populations. These evil lords are made up of the union of the Yuara families, the Ned and the Migi, who want to extend their dominion over all the surrounding space. Kori receives the invincible sword from Kou Yagami, as it was forged by his father before he was killed. The sword has a red gem set on the hilt, thanks to which it can transform Kori into an invincible warrior, which however makes him lose the use of reason, in fact when he regains consciousness and sees the men killed, he has deep senses of guilt and conflicts of conscience, as his soul is good and generous. Kori meets the talking dog Kujo, a cyborg with an eye patch, who also has a precious gem embedded in his tooth. Kujo will be a faithful and precious friend of kori, thanks to which he will be able to overcome various difficulties. Meanwhile, Kori is looking for his mother, who would also allow him to understand the secret of his sword and the red gem. For this he wanders among the eight moons of the sky where he will meet different characters and join the struggle of the guerrillas, making the acquaintance of Nola, a cynical and cold girl, with whom he has violent contrasts. Nola was forced to kill, from the age of 13 after having witnessed the death of her parents, for this reason life has taught her to see only violence, but Kori has a good soul and will try to make her understand the importance of loyalty. In another episode, Kori tries to save a village from the powerful robot Gokumon, who has an arm equipped with a laser cannon. Kori thanks to his sword and above all the help of Kujo and the children of the village, will be able to defeat the terrible cyborg.
