Magica Emi (original name Mahoo no Star Magical Emi) appeared for the first time on the televisions of Italia 1 in 1986 within the broadcast Bim Bum Bam and immediately won the sympathy of the audience of girls.
The story tells of Mei a red-haired girl of about 10 years old, daughter of Magic Art magicians, known for their shows on Japanese television. One day Moko, Mei's plush squirrel comes to life and gives the girl a magical bracelet that allows her to transform into Emily Lowell or Emi, a great magician of the past capable of inventing any magic able to amaze the public. To the words "Turn and hope, the wish comes true!" As a child, Mei transforms into a green-haired girl and in turn the bracelet into a magic wand, with extraordinary powers. It can make people invisible, to make any object materialize and while the audience thinks they are skilled magician's tricks, in reality they are real magic. Needless to say, Magica Emi's performances are appreciated by the public and soon the girl is so successful that Mei creates a conflict of identity. In fact, when the spell disappears and Emi returns Mei, the latter suffers a bit of jealousy towards her magical alter ego, who he even manages to make Ronnie fall in love, an aspiring boxer boy, who collaborates with Magic Art and with whom Mei is in love, but whom he does not look at as Mei is still a child. How will it end? The cartoon highlights the small and big problems of all adolescents, related to the change in their physical appearance that transforms them from children into adults and with it the change of feelings, to this must be added the need for the affirmation of one's own identity.
