2021 Creative Arts Emmy: "Primal", "Love, Death + Robots" win the best animation awards

The Television Academy held a trio of ceremonies to present the 2021 Creative Arts Emmy Awards this weekend, honoring a range of television production professions, including animation, visual effects, and motion design. In addition to the individual awards already awarded by the jury, the main winners of this year's animation program are Primal di Adult Swim and  Love, Death + Robots of Netflix.

Primal danimation icon Genndy Taratakovsky, took home his first honor for the best animation program and raised his team's total of single winners to four. Love, Death + Robots won the Short Form Animated Program award for the second time (after 2019) and a Sound Editing award; performing artists have now won eight individual achievement awards.

Ahead of the big weekend presentations, the 48th Daytime Emmy Awards announced the winner of the jury award for Outstanding Interactive Media for a Daytime Program, who had to be judged from home once again. The award went to the VR animated story Baba Yaga, giving Baobab Studios its ninth Emmy Award and a first for executive producer Jennifer Hudson.
