Aoashi Soccer Anime Teaser Unveils Cast, Staff, and Debut in April 2022 - News

The official website of Yūgo Kobayashi's Aoashi manga television anime has unveiled the anime's first promotional video, as well as its first visual, cast, staff, and April 2022 premiere on Friday.

Akira Sato (Release the Spyce) directs the anime at Production IG Masahiro Yokotani (Free! - Iwatobi Swim Club, All Out !!, Tropical-Rouge! Precure) is handling the scripts for the series. Manabu Nakatake, Toshie Kawamura, Asuka Yamaguchi, and Saki Hasegawa are all credited for character design, with Natake and Yamaguchi also credited as principal animation directors. Naho Seike, Yukiko Watabe, Miho Daidouji and Eisuke Shirai are credited as secondary character designers. Kenichi Takeshita, Jun Soga and Kenji Iizuka are credited for overseeing football. Masaru Yokoyama is composing the music.

Tsukasa Kakizakai and Yūsuke Takeda are the artistic directors, while Kazushige Kanehira and Osamu Ii are credited for the artistic setting. Emiko Ueno is the key artist of color. Arisa Ito and Miori Tsuzaka are the set designers. Akiko Hamanaka is credited for 2D works. Tsunori Maeshima is credited for pre-visualization. Shiguma Morimoto is credited for 3D. Maiko Imazeki is the compositing director of photography, while Yoshinori Murakami is the editor. Shōji Hata is the audio director.

The anime will premiere on the NHK Educational (E Tele) channel in April 2022.

The manga centers on Ashito Aoi, an eighth grade student who lives in Ehime prefecture. Ashito has a strong talent in football but tries to hide it. Due to his very outspoken personality, he causes a disaster that serves as a great setback. Then, Tatsuya Fukuya - a veteran of the strong J-Club Tokyo City Esperion team and coach of the club's youth team - appears in front of Ashito. Tatsuya sees through Ashito and sees his talent, and invites him to try for the Tokyo youth team.

Kobayashi launched the manga in Shogakukan's Weekly Big Comic Spirits magazine in January 2015. Shogakukan published the 25th volume on August 30th. The manga is based on an original story concept by Naohiko Ueno. The manga was nominated for the 10th Manga Taisho Awards in 2017. The manga won the Best General Manga award in the 65th Shogakukan Manga Awards in 2020.

Kobayashi launched a spinoff manga titled Aoashi Brotherfoot in Weekly Big Comic Spirits on July 12. The spinoff will run for five chapters and will be collected in a volume of books.
