The Barbapapa cartoons landed on our televisions for the first time in 1978, thanks to RAI DUE which broadcast them in a time slot dedicated to children. 1978, as has been said, represented an important turning point for cartoons, in fact later Vicky Viking e Heidi, Barbapapa is the third Japanese cartoon broadcast in Italy. Divided into 150 episodes and intended for a very young audience, the cartoons of Barbapapà they had enormous success both for the originality of the characters, who could transform themselves into anything, and for the very nice theme song sung by the children's choir of "Le mele verdi", as well as Claudio Lippi and Orietta Berti. The history of Barbapapà it was written by Annette Tison and Talus Taylor and tells of when one day while the young Francesco was watering his garden, a strange vegetable never seen before sprouted from the earth. He was all pink and had a body similar to rubber, he had eyes, nose and mouth and he did not take long to make friends with Francesco, thanks to his sympathy, his cordiality and his amazing ability to take on the appearance of any object: Barbapapa was born . Despite everything, the creature was too bulky to let her live in his house, so he decided to take Barbapapa to the zoo. Here he made friends with all the animals, but sent the keeper into a rage, because he continually came out of the cage, thanks to his plastic body, which could pass between the bars, so the furious keeper decided to chase him away. Soon, however, the whole city realized the value of that special being, as thanks to its shape-changing abilities, he was able to rescue a family, from a burning building, turning into a staircase, after having said the famous phrase : << Rest of stucco is a barbatrucco >>. Barbapapa thus returned to live in Francesco's garden, even if he so desired to have a partner. Seeing him so depressed, Francesco, thanks to the advice of the vet, understood that he had to look for a Barbamamma, so they set off in search of the very rare specimen.

Barbapapa and Barbamamma

They traveled the world even on other planets, but of the Barbamama they didn't even see the shadow. Returning home after so many adventures and difficulties, a tear of joy came out of Barbapapa's eyes, which went to wet the ground of Francesco's garden. Suddenly a strange being all black with a crown of flowers on his head emerged from the ground: the Barbamamma was born. After looking for it all over the world, what he had always dreamed of he found in the garden where he himself was born, a sign that the land had the great property of giving birth to the barbapapa. Barbapapa and Barbamamma decided to form a family and have children, so they laid their eggs in the ground and after a few weeks seven little Barbabebs were born, all very similar to each other, but having different characteristics.

So Barbapapa helped by his seven children and Barbamamma, thanks to their ability to change shape, had no major problems in building the house: they could be transformed into a wheelbarrow to carry the bricks, into a winch to lift the loads and in a mold to pour The cement. So little by little their structured house took shape, like their spherical body. But their happiness was threatened by the bulldozers ready to destroy what they had created, so the Barbapapa, despite their peaceful nature, thought to defend their work: they turned into cannons and fired mudballs that made them go back to the bulldozers. Their home was safe. Here began the adventures of Barbapapa family who with their positivity and resourcefulness have entertained children all over the world with the aim of teaching respect for nature and animals. Babapaà cartoons were so famous that they gave life to a large merchandising: books, comics, toys, albums, Easter eggs, etc ...
