Netflix has announced its latest project involving musical animation film The Witch Boy. The film will be directed by Oscar nominee Minkyu Lee and is based on Molly Knox's bestselling graphic novel series Ostertage New York Times. THEThe film will be produced by Vertigo Entertainment (lego movie) and broadcast on the streaming platform. The score was entrusted to the three-time Grammy Award nominated band Haim.

The connection between this dream, my experiences and the story of Aster and Juniper is what draws me to this film every day. I am grateful I created this with the wonderful Netflix team, ”Lee said. Synopsis: In a secret and magical community where girls are born to be witches and boys grow up in shape-shifting, Aster is surprised to discover her extraordinary emerging wizard powers. When a mysterious danger threatens his world, Aster must embark on a journey to discover the truth behind him, his powers and all that is magical.
The film is directed by Lee, written by Maria Melnik, and executive produced by Vertigo Ent. founder Roy Lee, Miri Yoon and Ryan Harris.
Minkyu Lee is a director, writer, producer and artist whose animated short film, Adam and Dog was nominated for an Oscar and won an Annie Award for Best Animated Short Film. His credits include the animation of Glen Keane's Oscar-winning short film Dear Basketball, Winnie the Pooh e The Princess and the Frog, as well as visual development on Frozen, Wreck-It Ralph, Big Hero 6 and the storyboard Over the Moon.
The Witch Boy was previously acquired for development by Fox Animation in 2017.
