Aardman and Netflix outline the sequel to "Chicken Run" and the new "Wallace & Gromit"

In a blog post written by Aardman Animations co-founder and creative director Peter Lord and Netflix director of film and animation Aram Yacoubian, entertainment powerhouses described two exciting stop-motion film projects that surely will delight fans: the return of Chicken race next year and a brand new one Wallace & Gromit misadventure!

The announcement follows the first Aardman-Netflix collaboration, the musical holiday special Robin robin, recently selected for the Oscars and long for the BAFTAs.

Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, the highly anticipated sequel to the highest-grossing stop-motion animated film of all time (released in 2020), is heading for a Netflix premiere in 2023. Lord writes, "Over the years, a sequel has was often discussed at Aardman but the studio needed the right story and the right partner Robin robin, another collaboration seemed like child's play and the perfect time to bring our poultry heroes back to the world. ”New cast information and a first image debuted today.

Synopsis: After making a death-defying escape from Tweedy's farm, Ginger (voiced by Dear Newton) has finally found his dream: a peaceful island sanctuary for the entire flock, away from the dangers of the human world. When she and Rocky (Zechariah Levi) gives birth to a baby girl named Molly (Bella Ramsey), Ginger's happy ending seems complete. But returning to the mainland, the entire chicken breed faces a new and terrible threat. For Ginger and her team, even if it means putting their hard-won freedom at risk, this time around they are breaking in!

Directed by Sam Fell (Washed Away, Despereaux's Tale, ParaNorman) from a screenplay by Karey Kirkpatrick, John O'Farrell and Rachel Tunnard, the comedy-adventure sequel also features the voices of Jane horrocks (Children), Imelda Staunton (Bunty), Lynn Ferguson (Mac), Josie Sedgwick-Davies (Fruzzola), David Bradley (Fowler), Romesh Ranganathan (Nick), D (Fetcher) e Nick mohammed (Dr. Fry).

Peter Lord, Carla Shelley, Karey Kirkpatrick and Nick Park return as executive producers. Steve Pegram (Arthur Christmas) and Leyla Hobart are the producers.

As for the next big release for the adorable but rather extravagant inventor and his taciturn canine foil, the anchor Untitled film Wallace and Gromit will premiere in 2024 exclusively on Netflix worldwide, except in the UK, where it will debut first on the BBC before also arriving on Netflix.

The original creator of the Oscar-winning duo Nick Park returns to his roots to direct alongside Aardman's Creative Director of Wallace & Gromit, Merlin Crossingham (second unit director, Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit; animation director, Primitive man), with Mark Burton (Madagascar, Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, Shaun the Sheep Movie) on board to write. Writing and storyboarding are ongoing. Claire Jennings (Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, Coraline) produces.

In the new film, Gromit's concern that Wallace has become overly addicted to his inventions proves justified when Wallace invents an "intelligent gnome" who appears to develop a mind of his own ... As events spiral out of control, it's up to Gromit to set aside the scruples and fight against sinister forces - or Wallace may never be able to invent again!

Stay tuned for more announcements! (And make sure your pants are safely off before you rush out to spread the news.)
