AMC has kicked off a groundbreaking new animated drama series from writer-director Steve Conrad (Patriot, Perpetual Grace, LTD) and Stoopid Buddy Stoodios (Robot chicken, crossed swords), entitled Mega City Smiths. The network has ordered an initial season of six 30-minute episodes scheduled for 2021.

The story, which unfolds through stop-motion animation of dolls repurposed as a cast of adult characters, is based on an investigation into the mysterious disappearance of the most famous tycoon of the fictional mega city. Two intrepid detectives follow the case, reuniting to fight the dangerous corruption of their town, at great cost to themselves and their families, all looking for a kinder place to call home.

The series is created by Conrad, who will also serve as showrunner, with Jennifer Scher, Jeff Dieter and Tom Glynn as producers. Stoopid Buddy Stoodios' Seth Green, John Harvatine IV, Matthew Senreich, Eric Towner and Chris Waters will executive produce.
