Animafest Awards Łódź Film School 2020 Best animation school

The World Animation Film Festival - Animafest Zagreb 2020 The selection committee for student film competitions has decided to award the prize for the best animation school for The Polish National School of Cinema, Television and Theater in Łódź (Escuelaódź Film School).

After taking into account all the films submitted by the students, the selection committee - Daniel Šuljić, Katrin Novaković and Milivoj Popović - concluded:

Selection is never an easy task, because it is difficult to evaluate a work of art, to quantify expressions, emotions and the amount of effort invested in each title presented. However, watching movies some jobs and some schools really stood out. This time, in terms of quality, daring leaps through media and techniques, as well as the choice of subjects, we were particularly moved by one institution: the Polish National Film School in Łódź. Three titles produced by this school found their place in the official competition.

“The three films selected pushed the limits of their medium and all three strongly impressed the selection committee. The same spirit infuses the films produced by this school which were not selected for the official competition of the festival. All of this shows that the Polish National Film School in Łódź and its curriculum and work promote experimentation and freedom of expression, while maintaining the quality of production and animation skills. For all these reasons, we have chosen this particular school as the winner of the 30th Animafest Zagreb award as the best animation school ".

The Escuelaódź Film School was founded in 1948 and is one of the oldest film schools in the world. As part of its special program, Animafest Zagreb 2020 will present a presentation of the school and a retrospective of the best works of the school. Three films from this school were selected for this year's student film competition: marbles (Natalia Spychala) Portrait of a woman (Natalia Durszewicz) e The little soul (Barbara Rupik).
