The short Homeless Home by Alberto Vázquez

Since winning the jury prize at last year's Annecy Intl. Animation Film Festival, Alberto Vázquez's animated short Homeless Home (Homeless house) has collected prizes, awards and a great word of mouth all over the world. Co-produced by Autour de Minuit and Uniko, the 2D cartoon focuses on notions of home and homecoming from the perspective of demon-like characters.

Alberto Vázquez talks about the birth of this little film. “The main inspiration is the medieval fantasy books I read as a child. My idea was to work from a world similar to The Lord of the Rings, but from a personal perspective. I am interested in working with the genre to do the opposite of what is expected and this is how the idea of this short film was born, which is a kind of social and existential story contextualized in a medieval fantasy world.

This short film was a bit different, because until now all my films have played anthropomorphic animals within fabulous worlds, while in this short film the main characters are witches, orcs, sorcerers, skeletons and orcs in a different environment. "
