Annecy Unveils Studio Spotlight, MIFA Partner Demos and Conferences


More details on the exciting, innovative and enlightening programming that awaits attendees at this year's hybrid Annecy International Animation Film Festival and Market (June 14-19), including the focus studio section, MIFA Partners plans and experimental technological and creative demonstrations were announced. These (and more) are complemented by the 2021 Women in Animation World Summit on Monday 14 June.

Virtual thirteen Study Focus the episodes will mark the week with announcements and giveaways. In particular among them, Netflix will be present with four sessions whose surprises and exclusives will have the place of honor. The end of the week will be dedicated to Disney group with several presentations, including live online questions and answers: the team of Blacksmith animation will reveal the latest news on their first feature film Ron has gone wrong, and Pixar Animation Studios will take us backstage Luca and future films of 2022. Last, but not least, Disney EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) will present their new local projects, and in particular an exclusive excerpt from the TV series Chip 'n' Dale.

New studios are also joining this year:

  • ONF / NFB (The National Film Board of Canada), as well as having a question and answer session with male and female directors competing in Annecy, will unveil an exclusive look at their latest creation.

While the full MIFA conferences The program will be announced shortly, the organizers have news to share about what the market partners have in store:

  • unifrance will propose three discussions on the international challenges of French animated films: the emergence of a new generation of female directors, the broadcasting of animated films at African festivals and writing for an international audience.
  • The director of Japan Media Arts Festival invites three directors from major international festivals to share their views on the current intensity of animation and its future development, particularly through other art forms such as video games.
  • Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes on the move (AIM) will bring together the Artifacts (video games) e albyon (animation, VFX and VR) to present an overview of the creative and technical opportunities possible between the video game and animation sectors. Demo sessions are dedicated to experimental presentations and inspire viewers to do something new with six virtual technological and creative showcases:
