Avatar: The Last Airbender – the live action series

Netflix has released the first featurette, titled “Bringing the World to Life,” for its upcoming series Avatar: The Last Airbender. This series is a live-action reinterpretation of the beloved Nickelodeon animated series that follows the adventures of Aang, the young Avatar, who learns to master the four elements (Water, Earth, Fire, Air) to restore balance in a world threatened by the terrible Fire Nation.

The cast includes Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, and Dallas Liu as Zuko. Other cast members include Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Uncle Iroh, Arden Cho as June, Thalia Tran as Mai, Momona Tamada as Ty Lee, Elizabeth Yu as Azula, and many more, with James Sie reprising his iconic role as the Merchant of cabbage.

The series is produced by Dan Lin, Lindsey Liberatore, and Michael Goi, with Goi, Roseanne Liang, and Jabbar Raisani directing. Elemental visual effects are created by an impressive list of studios, including BarnstormVFX, BigHugFX, Clear Angle Studios, Dimension Studios, DNEG, Image Engine, Pixomondo, Rodeo FX, Scanline VFX, Spin VFX, The Third Floor, and Track VFX .

Avatar: The Last Airbender will be available worldwide on February 22, exclusively on Netflix.
