Beyblade Metal Masters is the second series of Beyblade Metal Fusion (in total it is the fifth season of the anime series Beyblade). Of course the weight of the legacy left by the previous series would be heavy for any anime and so it is also for Beyblade Metal Masters. In fact, it must be said that, almost unexpectedly at the beginning, the Beyblade series managed to conquer an excellent slice of Japanese, American and European audiences, convincing with always particular and captivating characters, but above all succeeding in the utopian intent of bring back to the old dawn a game belonging to a by now past generation: the spinning top. This ancient toy makes its second debut in society, in a world quite different from the one left years ago, to be locked up in dusty basements or dark attics. Beyblade is therefore this, a modern success that has its roots in a past without video games or the internet and even this umpteenth series confirms the interest that today's young people continue to have in the past, which can still compete with androids and vampires (modern).

The new team will be composed of Gingka Hagane, protagonist of the new series, who returns to compete in the World Championship, this time however with the new Beyblade, Galaxy Pegasus W105R2F. Another character is Masamune Kadoya, a member of the Gingka team, and who, with his Beyblade Ray D125CS Striker, sets out to defeat Gingka, so that he can become the number one blader. Then there is Tsubasa Otori, who returns to be part of the group, but who, flanked by his Earth Eagle 145WD, is still dealing with his dark side. The last fighter is finally Yu Tendo, ready to win with his Flame Libra T125ES. In a group of blades, however, only the fighters are not enough, and so the name of Madoka Amano appears, who is the mechanic of Gingka's group, also fundamental in his advice during the fights. The new series begins with a new character, as if there weren't enough new ones already, in this new generation of Beyblades. In fact, Gingka's group meets Masamune, a strong blayder who has made up his mind to defeat Gingka himself, thus becoming the number one blayder in the world. Despite this goal, however, Masamune is an excellent blayder and for this reason he joins the group. The WBBA inaugurates the new "Beyblade World Championships", a tournament that will see four blayers compete for each country in the world. All the greatest fighters come together to determine which of them is the absolute strongest, and therefore the greatest blayder in the world.

The idea of the cartoon series this time is to start a plot that will break away from the previous one, with rare meeting points with past stories and above all, which many will not like, with new characters. It is therefore a sequel in no way connected to the previous chapters of the animated saga. It must be said, however, that in some places this new adventure has not completely managed to convince the fans, partly disappointed by the generational change, and partly not entirely involved in a rather slow start. Fortunately, in the course of events the anime recovers, offering the best of itself especially during the same first episodes that during the first few minutes could be misleading. Here, in fact, we witness the presentation, in no particular and somewhat confusing order, of the various protagonists and their personal stories. What has been particularly focused on, once again is the originality of their characters, which are really bizarre and for this reason captivating and able to drag even the most skeptical fans into this new adventure. As for the fights it was decided to set aside, at least in part, the fantastic and sci-fi component, which will never disappear from the series, indeed it will make its triumphal return in the final part of the anime, but which, during most of the match , will give way to a more realistic tactical-strategic structure. In my opinion, this is the best innovation included in the anime, which allows the audience to enjoy a fight in which not only the strongest, but the most cunning and intelligent, wins. In short, the one who is able to exploit the defects and weaknesses of the opponent in order to gain advantage and victories. This obviously also helps to make the main part of the series less repetitive, the fights, which if they were based only on the strength or the fantastic component, would all be the same or almost the same, especially as regards those of lesser importance.

So not only Beyblade Metal Masters revolutionizes the world of characters, but helps the entire series to rise to a higher level, evolving and while losing something from the point of view of the plot's intrigue, it manages to give something to the Beyblade world: the maturity. As for the dubbing, it is undoubted to say that in Japan, as often happens, an excellent job has been done, offering voices that best characterize the various characters. Which unfortunately cannot be found in Italy for each of the protagonists of the anime. The Italian dubbing was done by the "Merak Film" studio in Milan, whose director is Graziano Galoforo. The voices of the characters instead are by Federico Zanandrea (Gingka), Simone D'Andrea (Kyoya), Monica Bonetto (Kenta), Jolanda Granato (Madoka), Giulia Franzoso (Hikaru), Patrizio Prata (Benkei) and Luca Bottale (Tetsuya) . Not that you want to question the quality of the Italian dubbing, famous as one of the best in the world, and even this time, all in all, the result rewards them, even if the choice of some voices could raise some doubts. In fact, above all the main protagonist, Gingka, has a very often excessively serious and deep tone, which obviously clashes with its cheerful and extravagant character. This, especially for those who have already followed the series in the original language. represents a real discordant note, since the importance of the voice in the characterization of any character on the screen is undoubted. On the other hand, the impact of listening to the Italian theme is quite positive, offering catchy music and showing off an excellent performance by Giorgio Vanni. In this respect, however, at home the judgment must be divided between the initial and final initials. The first one in fact highly disappoints, even if it shows an excellent animation, unlike the second which is really fascinating.

The creators of this series are: Takafumi Adachi, author of the anime, Kunishisa Sugishima, the director, and Katsumi Hasegawa, the screenwriter. SynergySP took care of the animation, while Neil Perfitt and Scott Buscis took care of the music. In Italy the series will start on Italia 1 (the same network that dealt with the free-to-air transmission of the previous series), immediately after the end of the transmission of the last episode of the first chapter of this new version of Beyblade (Beyblade Metal Fusion), which it will take place on Saturday 10 July, so as to give the public a greater sense of continuity. Above all, however, this choice was made to give a hand to the beyblade toys market, which had suffered a bad setback when the anime manufacturer had decided to eliminate the old favorites from the project, causing a strong disaffection among the most passionate fans. faithful. The broadcast of Beyblade Metal Masters will therefore start from 11 September 2011, and will be broadcast in full on Saturdays and Sundays from 10,00 in the morning, for a total of 51 episodes (just like Beyblade Metal Fusion), which make it a series somewhat full-bodied.

The sharp change of course of the anime, which has abandoned its historical protagonists along the way, has shocked the world of blayder fans. For some time before the birth of Beyblade Metal Fusion there were rumors about a possible "restyling" of the anime, and the disappointment for the realization of that prediction is still alive, so much so as to also involve the second season of the new course. Of course, however, many continue to follow the anime, even if distorted by the changes, but it can be said that fans of spinning tops are divided into two conflicting factions. The former in fact loved the original series above all because it was made up of certain characters, to whom everyone was fond of and who, in their opinion, were the real driving force of the series, beyond the general plot and the beyblade game itself. They therefore appreciated the human development of the anime, and compare the end of Beyblade to that of another sacred monster of the latest generation of souls "Yu-gi-oh". Even for this other series, in fact, such a thing happened, with the total suppression of the original anime and consequent disappearance of all the characters, including the protagonist (who gave the name to the series itself). The other side instead is that of lovers of the beyblade game, which to tell the truth represent the group of those who allow the world of spinning tops to still exist, buying the toys of the series and making Beyblade a project still capable of produce high profits, which is now the main objective of these souls increasingly closely linked to the marketing of card games or other. These fans therefore put in the first place the game that gives the name to the anime, rather than its favorites, letting themselves be involved in the various exciting fights rather than the evolution of the characters of each individual character. The truth, however, as always lies somewhere in between, and I don't feel I can fully agree with either side. There is no doubt that the series has undergone a real upheaval, putting, among other things, the revenues from the toy market and from the television share market. It must be said, however, that, analyzing the result as an external observer, the final result is not bad at all. From the point of view of the animation, in fact, a significant improvement can be found, and as regards the fighting the strategic component is the ideal in the structure of this anime. The improvements made, however, cannot fill the void left by the old stars of the show, and the most sentimental will never forgive this. Source: www.cartonionline.com
