History

After a frightening spree in a Drive-in cinema, the Trio of Ghosts are confronted with their nephew Casper. He is then confronted by Agent Snivel who informs him that his fright has decreased. The Trio takes Snivel's whistle and blows it to summon Kibosh, the evil King of Ghosts, who decrees that Casper must scare someone before Christmas Day. According to the law of ghosts, he will have to deliberately scare at least one person a year, otherwise he will be banished into the Dark, along with his uncles, for eternity. To make sure Casper scares someone, he confiscates the Trio's creepy licenses and throws them into the Christmas-affected city. The Trio meets the Jollimore family. When Casper's good friendly demeanor starts not going according to the Ghost Trio's plans, the Trio calls Spooky, Casper's look-alike cousin, who brings his girlfriend Poil with him, to do the job disguised as Casper in hopes of deceiving. Kibosh.

With Casper and Spooky unlikely to scare anyone after a series of unsuccessful attempts, the Trio decide to plot a frightening madness by stealing every Christmas present in Kriss, in a reference to How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and taking them to the home of the Jollimores where they plan to lure the townspeople, then set off scary booby traps to go out with a bang before being banished into the dark. Casper along with Spooky and Poil frighten the Trio using a fake Kibosh made by the Jollimore's giant Santa Claus.

Casper then summons the real Kibosh using Snivel's whistle to inform him that he scared the Trio, fulfilling his spooky obligation, however, Snivel informs Kibosh about the booby traps, violating the order not to scare the Trio. To prevent Kibosh from banishing them into the Dark, the Trio state that they intend to set traps on themselves to entertain Kibosh. After the deed, Kibosh accepts the Trio's claim and returns their creepy licenses before leaving with Snivel. The film ends with the remaining ghosts celebrating Christmas with the Jollimore family.
